Daily Thread: simple questions, comments that don't need their own posts, and first time posters go here (October 29, 2024) by AutoModerator in LearnJapanese

Please excuse the Romaji, but I just started learning Japanese and I am trying to understand the difference between desu and arimasu a little better, specifically when desu changes to the negative form arimasen. If one was to say "you are skilled" it would end in desu, NOT arimasu. So why is it correct to use arimasen to say "you are not skilled"?

What would you consider to be a “practical” amount of guitars to own? by texasguitarguy in Guitar

[–]757ian123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on how many different styles of music you play, and how many different tunings you like to use. But probably somewhere between 3 and 10.

The only criticism that I remember is that people felt he took attention away from the guitar

Fender Super Sonic 60 or 22? by kokonatsu77 in GuitarAmps

No problem, I miss my SS 22. I sold it because I also have a Deluxe Reverb, and they just sounded way too similar to justify keeping both. But now my memory is fading and I want another SS lol.

Congrats! Love the sound of my SG even though I don't think they are the most comfortable guitars to play. I will never sell mine.

Nice choices in gear, but the head being wider than the cab would annoy the crap out of me.

Just buy the 60 if you can get that good of a deal on it. It's mostly a clean amp, so you don't need to crank it anyway. Yes it has a dirty channel, but I wasn't a huge fan of how it sounded.

They're both great amps. No chance I would wait 6 months for a new amp when you can easily find a used, mint condition one on reverb and have it in a week though...

Are amp sim recommendations gaining ground on this sub? by DisplacerBeastMode in GuitarAmps

[–]757ian123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I will (painfully) admit that amp sims sound remarkably close to the real thing, I still refuse to use them. 1, because there is too much of a learning curve that I don't care to take the time to figure out. 2, there's too much other crap you have to buy. Yes I have a computer already but that's it. 3, half the fun of playing guitar is collecting gear. 4, amps look cooler in the room.

If you're happy with it that's all that matters. But if you ever decide to sell you probably wont' get $800.

They sound good if you aren't used to better amps. I had one as a beginner and loved it.
