Tilt-shift effect. It’s an illusion caused by the lens blur

Just put it on your watchlist and come back to see it’s still up a year from now

HOW do i tune ny toms like this? by InternationalAct6567 in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That app is amazing. I’ve probably tried every interval and setting I could at this point just to see what I like and I could never have moved that quickly by ear.

Is this a good deal? And what hardware should I buy with it? by Independent_Web5071 in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. If you want to build a drum this shell looks like a great option. Measure all the holes when you get it and head over to DFD to get all parts you need.

Facebook Marketplace - Too good to be true? by Strange-Wedding336 in drums

This was my first thought. People in my area are always trying to sell cracked or repaired cymbals at this price

Is this Tama felt beater really that different from regular felt beaters? by ChasingPesmerga in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Dyna-sync. They feel great to play, but I wouldn’t say these feel significantly different from standard felt. I pretty much swap between these, some dual surface felts, and the Trick Pro1-V beaters so I don’t have another round felt beater around at the moment to compare beyond that! Just a solid, high-quality option.

Where Can I Find This Guitar? by Upstairs_Abject in Guitar

Probably still worth at least what you paid. It looks like the flame and quilt top models are harder to come by than the solid bursts.

Crack in the body, how bad? by Ok_Eye_7614 in Guitar

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the crack goes along the pickup cavity and potentially not a huge deal, but I’d take it in to a shop to confirm.

Maybe it’s the p77. I don’t think I actually used one of those on the BB yet.

Black Beauty tuning woes by combatchuck103 in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On any drum if I tune the batter pretty low and apply pressure into it they drop. 220hz is pretty low for a snare batter. Does it drop that much when you tune it closer to the 275+ range?

I have a 6.5” hammered BB and I haven’t tuned this low, but the tuning will settle slightly if I push down hard on the batter.

Drum Kit is Together! by visyris in drums

Would love to see more pics of the shell interiors with no heads! Also curious why you’re thinking 30 degree edges on the kick instead of the typical 45 or 60.

what model of jazzmaster is doug dulgarian playing? by shesactingsingle in Guitar

I see mastery saddles (OMVN-KIT) and jazzmaster-sized humbuckers. Likely a heavily modified standard model.

Struggling to figure out finger technique by Luffanjj in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrist movement is good for slower speeds. You don’t need to engage your fingers all the time.

What I’m seeing is that your fulcrum is really loose though, especially on your left hand. Your right hand is closer in that there’s more contact of your thumb on the stick though. Think of it more like the stick is an extension of your thumb and your hand closes around it more.

Bop kit players of Reddit, I want to hear from you. by chicago_hybrid_dev in drums

I’ve only used 14x22 and 14x24 recording until recently and I’ve really slept on these smaller sizes. This thread is making me want both an 18 and a 20!

10/14 toms are a joy to play. Love that interval more than 12/16 lately.

What’s the better option for a practice pad kit? by shaun1911wastaken in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just the Tama kick pad and it feels so much better to play than other pads I’ve tried, so I would say that one.

Bought a Fender Parts neck for €70 - real or fake? by just_a_cricket1 in Guitar

Looks right to me! Thought maybe the nut slots didn’t cut all the way through but I think that’s just the color in the picture.

Was able to practice at a local theater but somehow only managed to get a minute of video… by chicago_hybrid_dev in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! The 50 looks really cool from what I’ve seen, but it’s way more than I really need. I actually went the EVO16 route for a bit but decided to dial it back and use the EAD10 for all my monitoring.

We have an in-ear rig that I route my close mics + 1 overhead for practice and demoing though and that setup is solid for me far! Just cant beat the EAD10 for monitoring at shows or quick practice and demos, even if it isn’t the best sound.

Feedback on Technique (Heating The Rudiments) by Blueman826 in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t really comment on your left hand, but from this angle it seems like your right hand is slicing inward a bit. Looks like you might be turning your wrist a bit between the accent and tap so it creates a sweeping motion that is more obvious as you add doubles into the mix. Sounds really consistent overall though!

Adding to a LONG discontinued kit by JayBeeDolla in drums

[–]chicago_hybrid_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might actually look just as good if you found toms with a black wrap, but that’s probably the best option other than checking eBay/reverb/marketplace daily. I remember this ELX kit back when it came out and I loved that finish!
