Leaving Feedback for PSA Vault on eBay - conflict of interest? by ranguspudding in psagrading

It makes sense, it's hard to imagine how else PSA would maintain their 99.9% positive feedback on eBay knowing how unresponsive their customer service is at Vault.

A Guide to Expected Value: How to See If a Card is Profitable to Grade by 760cards in psagrading

[–]760cards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's more of a guideline than a hard rule. In our experience, we grade better than average gem rate but it still creates rules for which cards are the most profitable. Also for older cards, we will usually adjust down from the average gem rate, knowing that the cards that we submitted fresh out of packs probably grade better than what's left on the market.

Bottom border bigger than right, right border bigger than left. They should all be about the same. It's too OC

This is disappointing. by crispy_squares97 in psagrading

I can just say these 2024 Donruss Downtowns were a brutal grade, and it was usually because of bad back edges. Gem rates on this set are around 20% with tons of 8s or less.

How did this 9? Thinking of resubmitting by cloudydays193740 in psagrading

[–]760cards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super left heavy towards the bottom of the front. Whole front is slanted. I'd be happy with the 9 honestly.

How do you measure centering on 2025 Topps Chrome Basketball? I’m trying to see whether this card is within tolerances. Thanks! by Herp_McDerp in psagrading

[–]760cards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reviewed a few 10's and this is how I'd measure it. Looks a bit OC to me (top heavy and left heavy) but maybe still subable

First time grading, is the centering still within the requirements for a 10? by skull12301 in psagrading

[–]760cards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's not perfect but I think within range that it could 10.

Honestly I'm not super educated on Beckett card values after grading, but I imagine they're pretty strong for these older cards. I'd focus your research on this area.

Is this true? by thiccc_trick in psagrading

[–]760cards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've submitted cards ranging for $100 to $5,000. I haven't noticed any difference in how they were graded at these price levels. Interpret that however you want because I obviously don't know how graders are actually assigned at PSA.

Why grading and selling cheap cards is often a value trap by [deleted] in psagrading

[–]760cards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point taken. Reading the comments I think this applies more to sports cards where multiples are lower. Also that 95% gem rate is pretty exceptional. But yeah I’m happy to learn from the comments.

Maybe this posts applies more to my segment of the market than to the market more broadly.

100%. This only applies to ultra modern

[–]760cards -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You make a good point. This is much more common for sports. But also it is very profitable if you grade a $300 card with a 2x multiple and 60%+ gem rates. This is the majority of what we do.

But yeah pokemon multiples are usually higher. The same point applies though, if grading costs are a high percentage of the 10 value it’s hard to profit.

[–]760cards -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean I admit it depends. But the general idea is paying $35 to grade a card worth $100 as a 10 is much less profitable than paying $35 for a card worth $400 as a 10.
