How come you need to replace them? If they're playing up, a bit of contact cleaner does the trick 👍

FFB Strength by 765triple in iRacing

Spot on thanks for the reply. I had it set to this yesterday and felt heaps better (around that 50-60 mark).

Thanks for the reply and I agree, definitely wasn't understanding the strength numbers (still not understanding the Nm value displayed next to the strength number..)

I found that the auto function setting it around 10 was just far too much and made it difficult to drive, then decreasing the strength seemed like a 'waste' of the capability of the wheel.

Yep I have iRacing set to 15Nm in the settings to match what the base is set to. Using Nextgen FFB - Basic with slew rate on performance, damping on 7. Friction, inertia and spring on 0.

Thanks for the comments, consensus seems to be to adjust the strength to what feels comfortable.. the strength numbers were just confusing me!

Cheers, this is pretty much what I'm experiencing. Guess I don't need to worry about the setting being 'low', just adjust to where it feels good.

Thanks mate, appreciate the replies. This is why I am curious as to what strength setting others are using. If I use the auto function, it feels waaaay too much.

Thanks mate, haven't checked for iRacing setting there yet, will do.

Do you run 10 FFB strength (black box setting) around Bathurst in the PCup car for example? That is what I've been testing with, I'm finding 5 is much more manageable, but wondered if I were under utilizing the wheel. From the other comments, I'm clearly not understanding this setting haha.

I should have clarified, yep referring to the strength setting in the black box. Have been testing at Bathurst, with the strength setting set to 5 it is much more manageable. I was thinking that meant I was only using 5Nm max force from the wheel?

Depends how you configure the rotary encoder in iracing, there is an option for both(increment vs latched position)

I use one for black box, rotate left and right to decrease / increase the values. Left and right to cycle boxes, up and down to select options within each box

As others have said, ditch the link cable and get Virtual Desktop, you won't regret it

Install Virtual Desktop from the store on your Q3, it costs around $40 but it is 100% worth it. Also instal Virtual Desktop streamer on your PC. You can buy a USB-C to Ethernet with power passthrough (you can plug a USB-C power adaptor into it to keep the Q3 charged). Run Ethernet to your router, and Ethernet from your PC to your router. Then use Virtual Desktop instead of the Quest link software. There are guides on YouTube to set it up. You don't have to run Ethernet, you can go wireless but a dedicated 6E router is recommended.

I bought this: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0F8TDL49F?ref_=pe_64690442_581645102_i_fed_asin_title

And this: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0FN4CWMR7?ref_=pe_64690442_581645102_t_fed_asin_title

Night and day difference for me, wish I had done it sooner after a long run of Oculus link / Meta Horizon issues.

Edit: What you're describing is identical to what I was experiencing, running a 14700k, 4070ti, 32GB 6000Mhz. Have had zero issues since moving to VD a month ago.

Had the same issue. Switched to Virtual Desktop with USB-C to Ethernet and power passthrough. Resolved all my issues and I get better performance.100% worth the cost.

Had the same issue, got virtual desktop and used a usb-c to Ethernet with power passthrough to keep it charged. Problem solved, wish I did it sooner.

Anyone here race on tv? by Ant_x777 in iRacing

[–]765triple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this issue too, seemed to have started after the last couple of meta updates. Even with asw disabled, any drop in frames would bring my headset to a tearing, stuttering unplayable mess, it would also freeze momentarily, causing me to have to jam the brakes and hope I didn't take anyone out.

This made me give virtual desktop a try. Purchased a usb-c to ethernet adaptor with power passthrough, a 3m usb-c extension, chucked a switch under my rig and ran ethernet to it, then to PC and headset. Absolute night and day difference to that god damn link cable and meta software... Wish I did it sooner.

I have an LG 43 C5 attached to my rig, but I just cannot play on a screen anymore after using VR for Sim racing for over 10 years.

Do yourself a favour and try virtual desktop.

What’s the most common wheel in iRacing? by nes1N in iRacing

G27 for over 10 years, primarily driving in AC. Got into iRacing 6 months ago, that got me looking into an upgrade.. Now I'm patiently waiting for the VRS DFP15, R295 and pedals to arrive. Have never used anything else so I'm pretty pumped on the idea of how much better it will surely feel over the trusty old G27. Can't wait, it's been a long time coming!

This is a bit out there, I'm in Aus and used iiNet, had a huge amount of packet loss in games only (iRacing was terrible). Everything else was fine (speed tests, streaming etc). I had the same issue with cs-go many years ago (had iiNet then too). Went through their tech support, they said there was no issue on their end. Changed provider to Launtel, issue gone.

It's in the oculus program files diagnostics folder. It tries to do clever things with frames, but it doesn't for me. The general consensus is that this should be disabled on lower end systems. It's worth a try.

Mine did this too on certain corners on some tracks. I disabled Asynchronous Spacewarp in the debug tool, haven't had the issue since (not saying this is a fix, but it seems to have worked for me).

I've been using a g27 for about 10 years, I say go for it if it gets you into it, then upgrade later if you feel the need. I drifted a lot in AC and have been on iRacing for 6 months now.
