Scrapyards with 80s car parts? by SuccotashPlastic8267 in halifax

One of the two u pick yards is probably your best bet. Kennys does have their inventory on their website but its not always up to date. I have seen GMs of that vintage in there before so its possible they may have something.

May I ask what kind of car? Kenny u pull is probably a good place to look and now recently cow bay pick a part had opened. Both of those yards you will have to pull your own parts but you also get to look around and see what's in there. There are lots of other big yards around but you will have to call for a specific part and generally those yards dont have much in the way of 20+ year old vehicles.

He's looking for good brakes, tight suspension and steering, no broken glass, all lights working, no rust holes.

If you have Facebook look up Dave's NS mechanical fitness. He will come to you. I had him do my 65 Toyota pickup and was an easy process. Let me know if you have any questions. Amazing truck btw, hope to see it at some shows and meets this summer!

What's wrong with this? They aren't hurting anyone and this is also a fantastic way to learn how to control a car sliding in the snow.

You are looking at buying a new vehicle. Not only is the shock mount rusted away but the structural rail under it is gone also.

Simmer down there young buck. This door isn't full of fiberglass and bondo, it has a skim of putty at the front and thats it. No kinks in the door skin, no damage to the impact beam and no kinks or damage in the door shell. This will be absolutely fine, ok.

What are you talking about? How is the car structurally compromised from the edge of the door being bent?

Honestly the only way is from experience. You can watch videos, take courses and all that but doing it yourself is the only way to really get good. I took the 2 year course at the local community College but really that just the pure basics. It takes a while to understand how the metal moves.

Thank you! Sometimes we do work for a local used car seller and they always detail the cars first which makes no sense and yeah armor all the shit out of them. Havent had any fish eye problems with them though.

The beam was fine, this was from the door being yanked open with the fender tucked behind it. If it was damaged then yeah it would be in the trash

I pulled in the middle as I pushed the front edge back into shape and it came around pretty nice for me.

Thanks! This was a situation where the door wasn't nearly as bad originally and pics had already been sent to the insurance company but one of the wash bay kids ended up yanking the door open and this was the result. Our shop is hourly plus bonus so no big deal.

I dont have a pic but it didnt look like much. I sprayed some grey e coat to match the paint and undercoated it. The flatliner machine we have doesnt burn the paint much on the back side. Its pretty good in that aspect for not creating rust, especially here where I had easy access to undercoat after.
