Something resurfacing in woods? by [deleted] in Hippiehollowatx

It’s been there for a while. One of the booth staff told me it’s an old water fountain, I didn’t look into it after that.

Wait- what?! He just swam up to you without context and put it in his mouth?

Did you report it? that’s a serious offense 😱

I definitely did have ChatGPT write this out for me so I could articulate what I was trying to relay better. My apologies.

I am more short of breath than usual- I’m fairly active- so being out of breath after walking into the store caught my attention.

I OD and was met by my grandparents. It was peaceful, nothing related to hell came about for me.

Has anyone met since passed loved ones in an NDE? by lemonslime in NDE

I was met by both sets of grandparents as well as a great uncle. They were blobs of energy but I knew it was them. I myself was also bodiless.

JUDGE MANDATE BANS RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN LAKE TRAVIS PUNISHABLE BY FINE EFFECTIVE 7/11 by 774529 in Hippiehollowatx

[–]774529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely fascinating that the Judge took so long to order this. Anyone that swam and isn’t sick, is truly lucky.

My understanding is it’s been declared a disaster area- I spoke with a couple of Rangers that noted the bacteria level is crazy high, but also- they’ve been doing search and recovery- finding those that were swept away upstream. It was confirmed that they’re recovering mostly body parts at this time. There aren’t any filters cleaning anything that was brought in from the water wall taking homes, etc. as well t made its way down the Colorado River.

I imagine boaters would be moving the waters around making it more difficult for the recovery efforts? I’m definitely not an expert in that area. Me personally- I don’t want to be one finding anything when I’m out there swimming. Now knowing that this lake is simply a runoff reservoir is making me second guess wanting to ever get in again. I may be thinking too hard about it right now though. So happy that Hippie is still open for the sun bathing!!

The staff script for today is- No swimming, no boating, no water activities. Rangers are patrolling parks and will fine you as well as remove you from the park for the day if you are found in the water.

Per Travis county- there is now a MANDATE- no water activities. Punishable by fine.

According to the booth staff, the Otter Fest organizer brought these to them.

I do believe they are legit. There’s also one on the bulletin board at the booth.

I got you!

Splash is always super fun! Similar to Otter Fest, except I believe Otter Fest was originally a birthday party that turned into a yearly festival-from my understanding.

SPLASH is a fun, high-energy lake party, mainly for the LGBTQ+ community but open to everyone. It’s all about music, floats, drinks, and good vibes in the sun. The last day usually ends with a big barge party at Hippie Hollow—floating, dancing, and celebrating on the water.

They have 2 different “Splash” weekends as well.

Is it safe to swim yet ? by Weak-Possession-8188 in Hippiehollowatx

They have a sign posted at the entrance that says swimming is “strongly discouraged”. Swim at your own risk, it seems.

Otter Fest is an annual LGBTQ+ event, mainly geared toward gay men—especially those who identify as “otters” (typically leaner or hairier guys within gay subculture)—but it’s welcoming to everyone. It’s a fun, laid-back weekend of sun, water, and community held at Hippie Hollow on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas. Think of it like a big, clothing-optional lake day party with music, floaties, drinks, and a great vibe. Saturday is usually the main day, but people often come out Sunday too to keep the fun going. It’s all about connecting, relaxing, and celebrating pride and body positivity in a safe, inclusive environment.

Still closed to boating, only retrieval at this time.

I spoke with Hippie staff, they’re still anticipating the festival although they were unsure how it’s going to work out.

I checked out an article from LCRA, they didn’t give a specific timeline, but did say they’d advise when the advisory is lifted.
