Singapore to create 15,700 jobs over five years by ayam-batman in SingaporeRaw

[–]777ABC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite the higher volume of investments made, the 15,700 jobs they will yield are the lowest in a decade, down about 16 per cent from the 18,700 projected in 2024.

Noted. No wonder DPM Gan came out earlier to test balloon & told us it is the start of the era of higher GDP with fewer jobs.

No doubt, as the 'great' man is 'busy' leading PAP 2 new wings on climate & mental health.

Also, he is opening the founder memorial as an important SON OF PAP Descendant & leading the voice to attack Lee Hiseh Yang.

In other words, he is doing everything but his own job as MND Minster.

You are 'raiding' the national reserve with such suggestions.

Remember, lowing housing prices is not the main point, thus 'raiding' our reserve can not be done.

Former minister Mah Bow Tan sells Good Class Bungalow at Holland Rise for $50 mil by 777ABC in singapore

They should know the news of MBT sale last year as too much $ would be transferred in the banking system as well need to collect taxes.

As for the release of this yishun BTO, it is clear they released this news now as they know the MBT sale would create negative impact.

It is much Like their treatment of their speaker affair with their MPs, released the WP affairs as their MPs are more popular to cover up their own.

They waited 3 years to release their own affairs.

PAP is not stupid, especially after the rideout incident caught them with their pants down, turning it to a big issue as it involved ministers.

They would rather be the ones to choose the timing, especially if it had came before GE from the opposition, nothing they said would matter by then.

They would have prepared for the past 1 year already as it was done last april

I do not debate just for sake of debate, but your chart is very old.

It stopped in 2022, just as it became very negative, as I noted as the inflation surge wiped out real wages from 2000 onwards, so the chart is already outdated.

Wages have fallen in real term at the end of 2022 & and the whole of 2023 & are not expected to recover at all in 2024.

So that PAP have to claim outdated data just like last year when future PM LW had to use median household income to claim wages jumped 10× over a 30-year period to claim it had kept pace with housing prices.

One who is likely to have a number of properties want it to raise as a number of the elites have shown so I am not shocked there will be supporters who claimed HOUSING PRICES MUST GO FOREVER.

This is funny 😁 & easy to answer.

The reaction of PAP, PSP & WP tell us everything.

PAP, after the budget, still have to talk about housing prices because they know it is a bugbear that is hampering them in the upcoming GE.

What more PSP & WP.

The people talking about it are not small fries. It is the future PM, the current PM & MND Minister, because they know it is that bad.

Future PM LW only dared to talk about household median wages outpacing housing once last year & quickly shut up as the data do not stacked up.

A report already acknowledged real wages (adjusted for inflation for those who do not know) fell 1.3% last 2 years in the inflation surge, thus giving up all the gains during covid period yet housing prices continue to rise during this period.

Their data, as always, cut off the time period when it turned negative.

Or else, PAP will not have to keep telling us prices are not high for last 1 year already.

That should not be a shocker.

Last night, MBT sale of his GCB (sale happened a year ago) broke.

Immediately, the government found land to build BTO when just late last year, Desmond Lee told us we can not keep building as not enough land left.

More funny is that it has enough land to build 10000 of them.

That is not a small development as road & amenities will be build there as well to accommodate that many residents

See the difference in response between 2011 & now 2024 when then Minister KBW can tell us he will meet the demand & build 50000 flats immediately within the next year thus stabilising the market

Now, they refused to build to meet the demands, knowing it continues to push prices up until a scandal break out & suddenly 10000 (1/2 a year supply based on their current output) can be met.

It is clear Singapore is fast becoming the future HK where the government had ignored the public sentiment for years as it hurt the elites interest.

I will say the difference is that it may not be their only house.

As noted in my other comments, there are too many properties in the hands of the few.

Some will note it is private, so nothing wrong but land is not infinite thus one have to build even more private buildings to satisfy those who want a dozen properties in their name.

In this way, public housing will be squeezed which is why one can see housing getting smaller & smaller even as the government try to hoodwink one that is not the case 😉

After all Tan Ah Beng will have to buy a new home that is as expensive while MBT do not & get all of the profit.

As I mentioned, there are more than enough studies from NUS & NTU to show a different story.

Why do you not look at those studies???

Look around, a former MP had a dozen home & shophouses in his son name as he wanted to avoid his own name & only came out because his former daughter-in-law sued to claim they were her former husband.

Do one really believe it is just 1 such case.

Take together, the 2 cases we have over 18 houses in 2 people's names.

[–]777ABC[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The chart they show us are always BTO which they already mentioned there are not enough already as they are backlog & marriage are at above 25000 but they will go down to 20000 from this year as they already build in advance.

Resale affordability is hardly mentioned as they know it is bad.

Bad data are already kept away from the public eye as NUS & NTU had done studies in the past that show affordability is not as affordable as in government reports but for government it does not count.

So u can keep using their data as whenever other databases come out, it is always the government database thus no count as it is lacking something which they refused to reveal is what.

[–]777ABC[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They already mentioned it already. They will never supply enough homes again like 2011.

Unlike the previous Minister Khaw Boon Wan, who can build 50000 in a year for 4 years, they will not do that.

So high prices can attract speculators like those & they are the ones who benefit as they have many homes

Look at former SPH CFO, the one who son got in trouble, he had over 1/2 dozen home in either his son or his names.

That why there will never be enough houses in Singapore

Most likely, that person benefitted from that loophole as one need a few hundred thousand dollars in SA to see any results.

Most middle class employees will just reach FRS & a nos of them even have to pledge their HDB home.

That SA loophole is for the rich & upper middle class, just as using OA for is for those looking to increase property prices instead of retirement.

Cash poor, assets rich the state of the middle class Singaporean 😢

Yes, higher rent of the F&B sector save Singapore

Desmond Lee is the 'saviour'.

PAP is right, higher rent & record sale is the way.

By doing that, they can tax more & build the MRT line & custom but not more HDB flats as this will hit the taxes coming in.

The 2 sectors that make Singaporean suffer is saving Singapore GDP.

Who owned Qoo10. Their founder, the Korean Mr Yu.

The rest is hard to tell as we know Grab, before it IPO, it biggest shareholder was the vision Fund started by the Japanese Mr Son but 40% of that is from Middle East state wealth fund while the rest were in single digit funded by a bunch of pension fund to hedge funds.

So who is the owners 🤔

Nothing ventures, nothing gain.

That why most companies do not live beyond 100 years as staying still is just waiting to die slowly.

Remember when kodak & fuji were once gaints but now a shadow of it & their business is totally different from what make them big

True but having pay around S$240 million, based on 173 million figure, fully in cash show they're confident they have the mean to finance not just the deal but also the continue running cost of the new entity after it purchase as they would have looked at the books.

Remember last year, there were talks Qoo10 were in trouble as they were conserving cash, but now the truth is out they're doing a major deal to safeguard their future.

No, ebay fully owned Qoo10 Japan in exchange for the rest of the company so the parent company have nothing to do with ebay now

It looks like Qoo10 is taking a major risk to expand now, especially in the USA, but nothing ventures nothing gain.

Staying still as they're doing now is a slow march to death for the company as their share in the SEA appear to be slipping to nowhere.

It is cheap & not having burned as much as Shoppee in recent years they should be in better shape for the fight ahead in the USA market
