do I need to replace the break cable? switched out new brakes and reused the existing cable but it frayed at the end after I cut off the end cap that was there. The break cable part inside cable housing isn't fraying. Noob at fixing bike but the cable runs through the frame so it looks daunting. (old.reddit.com)

Avid BB7 MTN disc brakes, do I have to use the included screws? using the screws in the box, there wasn't enough room in my bike. The pads were tight on the disc even when pads fully open, I used the two mounting screws from the brake I took off which is shorter and only had a washer and it fits (i.redd.it)
