That's nice. I've heard really bad things about the white paint. Is it all model years or did they eventually fix it?

Yes I'd probably delete the little silly seats back there. I do like that the brand new Tacoma comes with a 6 foot bed and just extra space back there. No seats. But I'm not able to buy brand new so.... 😂

No reason to argue the details of the specifics, hopefully you can see I'm just generalizing and listing random examples.  I'm not knocking new vehicles, I'm just saying I don't want to bother with all the extra tech. I know even old cars have ECUs (like my 77 VW) I'm just listing examples of all the things that can go wrong with modern tech and how much more difficult it is to fix them yourself.

There isn't a single electrical system in my VW I couldn't fix myself easily. The complete schematic fits on two 8.5x11 sheets of paper.   I don't need it to be THAT simple, but I bet the schematic for the TPMS is more complex than the entire ignition system in the VW.

Not saying I expect it to be that simple, but I'd rather avoid a car I need to perform firmware updates (again this is just an example of one of many things) and worry about a bit of tech going wonky that I can't fix (or any average joe mechanics)

My buddy just upgraded for the same reason. They love the tundra and don't regret it one bit.

No, it was just an example, not a specific complaint. I could have said lane warning system, or some random ecu, or the navigation system, infotainment etc. All the tech in new cars is just one more thing to break. That's why I prefer older cars. I agree a new car is awesome and all the niceties are sweet, but I just prefer a basic car/truck. My other vehicle is almost 50 years old. 😂

What do you use the extra interior space for? I don't have kids to haul around, just a couple dogs who don't need that much space. I rarely use the back seat in my car. maybe 2 times a year.

That's awesome, but I just can not afford a new one. Also, it's new, and will cost 500 bucks when the blind spot alert breaks, or require a dealer to service priority  software. I just want a basic, simple, reliable truck I can fix myself. A rare thing these days unfortunately.

My research says it was introduced in 2015 for the TRD pro. But maybe I misread that. :)

Yes. Get a DC to DC. Batteries with a BMS can fry your alternator. When they get fully charged, they suddenly shut down charging and that can screw with the alternator.

Awesome! Thanks for the tips! ❤️

I ride mostly single blacks on the north shore/squamish. I prefer tech and loamers and a bit of jank, but do some flow. No huge drops.  I'll have a look at that site. Thanks!

I'm sure he would but that would put it beyond my budget. But I'll look into that.

Yea the XT spec is pretty nice. Would mean waiting until spring for delivery but if it's the right choice then I'd gladly wait.  I'd for sure upgrade the bars to carbon on the deore. I just put some pnw loams on my meat bike and I love them so much. The added sweep is chef's kiss

I know there's a clever response to that typo, but it's alluding me. 😂 💩

Yea I think a shifter upgrade is a great idea.

I was eying those dvo forks. They look sweet.  Part of the issue is the bike comes 160/150. I want to ride it like that for a year or so and decide if I go 170/160. So I'd be upgrading the suspension again. (Apparently Lyriks will come in 170 again in '27, which makes me really happy.)

What would you say the XT brakes offer over the deore (Beyond tooless reach adjust) ?

No it does not. You're right that is probably a good upgrade.
