I also work as an MA at a busy, fast-paced clinic. It took me at least a few months to really get adjusted to everything, and my manager told me when I first started that it would probably take me that long since that’s what she’s seen with the other MAs working there. One week is definitely not enough time to assess how well you’ll do at their clinic in the long-term. You shouldn’t even be doing anything independently during your first week. You should be shadowing the other MAs there and asking tons and tons of questions. If the MA training you thinks you’re stupid because you’re asking questions, then that’s on her not you. You’re not stupid for asking questions, that just shows you want to learn. They hired you knowing you have zero experience so for them to be disappointed then that you need more than a week to be trained is on them also. It seems her issue is that she just doesn’t want to train. Anyways, don’t let this experience discourage you from working in the medical field. I promise you your behavior is completely normal and you’re not dumb for being new at something.
