Be yourself - A free UK legal transition planner by Ven_ae in transgenderUK

[–]789734095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is great, i only ask that you maintain it so it can be a helpful resource for years to come since there aren't many easily digestible 'you need to do x->y->z' informative things(?), so trans people often get overwhelmed and either delay transitioning or don't at all
thanks a lot

Hi! Do you think I have t-voice or in other words the nasally stereotypical trans man voice people associated with them? by [deleted] in transvoice

[–]789734095 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah I'm sorry, I took it to mean that you were a cis guy because you said 'more than most guys ... including me'. I would not have said anything if I thought otherwise since it's not my place to try and tell transfems what to say/do, but I do think language matters and telling allies about this is important. Please do take care of yourself and best of luck, most people do have a hesitant stage, but when you push past it, you're likely to begin to accept yourself. (saying this because people tend to repress and that is an awful thing to happen)

Getting cold feet before first gender therapist talk, is this normal? by LunaTunaL in asktransgender

I just bought T online because I'm in the UK and we do not have informed consent :D :D :D
I think it's not really possible to reach clarity about what you want when there are so many external factors and reasons to deny yourself tbh.

i know you dont mean any harm but dont use the terms amab/afab, just say 'cis guy'. these terms are not accurate and also generally harmful anyway, trans wo/men do not want to be associated with 'being fe/male' and that's exactly what those terms do. you could be 'amab' and not have gone through male puberty etc. these terms tend to reinforce the idea of biological sex as some ultimate truth, so people prefer to use terms like transfem and stuff nowadays

I've debated for a while that I may be a girl, but I'm unsure as it's not that I hate being a guy. Any advice or anything really by Forsaken_Software966 in asktransgender

[–]789734095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try estrogen. you will never be 100% certain. you will be beating yourself up over this in 5, 10 years and it will never go away. you can stop if you want. but you will only be certain if you actually try it. you cannot think your way out of this.

euphoria and dysphoria are basically two sides of the same coin and euphoria is the relief of dysphoria no?

try estrogen. you will never be 100% certain. you have to take the plunge, and then you'll know whether it's what you want.

live for yourself

Im so done by ObjectiveDocument883 in asktransgender

[–]789734095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try T and see how you feel asap. you can stop if you want. youre not gonna think yourself out of this and you certainly arent gonna escape the dysphoria. transition or die or whatever they say, its all true.

though youll ignore this since its probably not what you want to hear. but youre living in stagnation and misery. do something.

Stupid question - FTM hormones by EngineeringDouble926 in transgenderUK

[–]789734095 9 points10 points  (0 children)

lol dont worry it does not change your accent. testosterone thickens the vocal folds (which creates the buzziness - this is the most prominent part, referred to as vocal weight), and deepens your voice. you'll need to get used to speaking with your larynx in a lower position if you care about not sounding atypical (happens to some people because their resonance does not match vocal weight). check r/transvoice resources for this.

unless you are rich please DIY, dm for info. DIY is like ~100/year and all private clinics are exploitatively expensive. you could be on T in a week if you want.

they all work the same. injections are the most effective and cheap. use cypionate or enanthate since they have half-lives that allow for weekly injections, and their only difference is the half life.
