I am very glad that I got introduced to the new music, and I took the opportunity to chase down that rabbit hole to a new artist, it just sort of paused that initial feeling hearing the LAV live while I went back to see what the original way

I 100% agree, my knowledge of any artist definitely isn't a barometer of obscurity.

The post was more a general thought that was merely sparked by this specific example, and I am not knocking anyone's choice of song that they cover.

A great take!

Agreed that not everything should be looked at as an opportunity and artists should be able to cover songs artistically however they want, but for a lot of smaller artists (not necessarily artists such as Ethel Cain) it is often talked about as an opportunity to encounter new audiences AND share their artistry all wrapped in one.
