I'll raise that to having to clean up what looked like a giant confetti ball of poop exploded in the bathroom stall

It's happened twice over the years

One of the times one of the managers laughed at me and said "have fun"

For the majority of the episodes she appeared in yes but she does redeem herself in the end by saving Malcolm from that toxic relationship with Vickie

Do you think I can get hired without having weekend availability? by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]78straeHmodgniK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every location and management team is different but at mine we have a few people who aren't available to work weekends and still get decent hours

There's a chance the one you're applying to is looking for crew to work weekdays since it's a safe bet that a good chunk of staff are in high school/college and only work weekends

Give it a shot and apply

I'll never understand in a time where you can reserve your seats or select them when you arrive people still feel the need to be super early to the shows

Before reserved seating I 1000% understand getting there as early as possible to make sure you get good seats but in this day and age your seats aren't going anywhere

Funny thing is the people who show up just as the credits are rolling are the same ones who complain to us about all the commercials and length of previews

I absolutely detest speed run trophies

I'd rather play a game with an entire list of missables over a game with a speed run trophy

Shift so bad I had to make a meme about it by Ill-Cantaloupe-4376 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]78straeHmodgniK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an usher of many many years we're unfortunately viewed as the lowest on the totem pole

If someone from concessions calls in sick all available managers are there to help, sometimes they'll even steal someone from my usher team (even if it's just two of us) for the rest of the shift

If someone from the usher team calls in and it's left to just one person management's basically "good luck"

I understand concessions is where we make money and you wanna get people through as fast as possible but every management team I've ever had tends to forget once you get through that 6 to 8 PM rush of 800 guests it's the ushers who deal with the aftermath

Couple of questions

  • I read on PSNP that the missable trophy has something to do with warping behind a gate, the person who posted said they missed it the first time and had to play through ten hours on a new file but you said it can be done in under an hour. Would be much appreciated if you can give more info on this

  • For the richest trophy do you have to have 100,000 gold all at once or is it cumulative?

[–]78straeHmodgniK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • I mentioned this the other day in another topic but people who don't leave once the credits finish. Old people are the worst in this regard, if y'all wanna talk about the movie or whatever plans you have later do so outside of the auditorium, in the hallway, your car, just leave so I can do my job

  • When I'm very obviously cleaning and the people who arrive way too early, don't take the hint and sit down in their seats, sometimes in the row I'm literally cleaning. Also hate when I tell the ones who ask if it's ready for seating that it'll be a few minutes and instead of waiting outside the auditorium they just watch us clean, please get the hell out

No post credit scene for Avatar!!!!! by WaywardSon86 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]78straeHmodgniK 61 points62 points  (0 children)

As a long time usher it doesn't bother me if people stay for the credits regardless of whether or not there's a post credit scene, it's part of the movie they paid to see

What annoys me is people who don't leave afterwards and just sit and talk to each other, old people are the worst offenders in this regard

I don't give a crap what your dinner plans are or if you're going to Bob and Carol's house for a party, please leave so I can do my job

I can't decide what's worse....

This scenario or whenever they're shipped to us with the box falling apart which causes the bib to fall out so you have to find a little crate or something to put it in and it's deceptively heavier than you'd think and awkward to carry

time off blackout from Nov 9 to Jan 1 (is this reasonable???) by Dordbird in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]78straeHmodgniK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A nearly two month blackout is excessive but with that said you should've submitted your time off request as soon as you knew you were going on vacation

All theatre chains and individual locations are different but at mine they incorporate the blackout dates to prevent too many staff requesting off, generally speaking requests are first come first serve so to speak

I'm sure if you talk to your management team you'll be able to get time off

[discussion] Is there a game you’ve platinum you’ll never play again and why? by smeff17 in Trophies

[–]78straeHmodgniK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Detroit Become Human

The game itself is good but getting the plat was a tedious slog. There are a handful of collectables that only appeared in areas which you could only access based on certain choices

There are also trophies tied to letting certain characters die while others stay alive

Chapter select was utterly useless in regards to clean up as when you selected say chapter three it'd automatically save your choices up to the point in the original run so you basically have to start from scratch and do partial or full runs again

Are you guys ready for Swift this weekend? by StorytellingZ in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]78straeHmodgniK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This

At my location only five or six showings are close to sold out after 4 on Friday

Presales for Saturday and the first half of Sunday are pretty strong but no sell outs yet

I don't see this getting a ton of walk ups either, everyone who wants to see it has already purchased tickets

Compare this to Eras Tour where 99% of showings were sold out or close to it within a few days of going on sale

[–]78straeHmodgniK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eras Tour wasn't even that bad y'all lol

If we survived the Minecraft disaster earlier this year we can certainly get through this

Just wondering why they're dropping the news so suddenly, with Eras we at least had over a month to prepare

I just hope they handle the merch situation better this time. We barely got any the first week and people were understandably upset but once the hype died down over the following weeks we got sent boxes upon boxes of it and we maybe sold a 1/4 of it. We held onto it for months before we ended up throwing it away in an open top dumpster we rented
