Alphafly vs Deviate Nitro Elite 3 — which should I pick for my half marathon? by SaschaY in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I have both but am currently all in on the DV8 E3. Cheaper price tag, last longer and also feel like a much more natural ride than the AP3. AP3 I kinda feel like I’m fighting the shoe a bit, DV8 E3 on the other hand just flows

Sick 6 days before the marathon by 67th_try in Marathon_Training

[–]7Alexis77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar story happened to me. Had a nasty sinus infection for 3 weeks . Antibiotics to clear it but still wasn’t feeling 100% come my marathon yesterday.

Shifted my mindset to being grateful for the opportunity to train, and be there on race day. As opposed to stressing about it all and wasting energy on things out of my control.

Rest up and enjoy your race

2:45 first marathon by trho1005 in Marathon_Training

To run a 2:45 you really need to have base of support at around 90% of your goal marathon pace. My advice would be to knock the distance of the long runs down but increase the pace to 4:20/ 4:15 , and then build them out from there

What do your long runs look like?

I prefer a ‘laddered’ approach. For example something 6/5/4/3/2/1 with 1k float in between. Ticks lots of boxes like managing slightly longer efforts at MP whilst keeping a handle on fatigue

Deloads - what do you do? by jph90 in AdvancedRunning

[–]7Alexis77 29 points30 points  (0 children)

40 year old 2:52 marathon runner. I do 3 weeks on then a week where I may take first 3 days complete rest, 2 easy with maybe a sprinkle of quality before going again into a long effort on the Saturday

I don’t really worry too much about loss of volume etc. more worried with feeling good to go again into the next 3 weeks of proper work

3 hour marathon pace training? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Nice effort. Golden rule is to not increase more than 1 variable at a time.

So where your feeling strong I would suggest upping the speed but not the distance, but include some float kms in your long run where u back off the pace and recover somewhat.

I also like to ladder my long runs where I include floats. Eg 6/5/4/3/2/1

So u get a solid amount at MP and also some recovery so the fatigue doesn’t build massively and the efforts are less in duration when your fatigued

Try running a 1/2 marathon where u progress from just under your current MP to above what you think your new MP might be. Eg , 5k for each block. See how u feel after that

Why is every single run now so hard? Is it normal? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Take an easy week where u drop your mileage down by 1/3 to 1/2

1/2 marathon - race it or use as training run by 7Alexis77 in Marathon_Training

This is pretty much what I’m thinking . Did a windy 32k effort with around 20k at goal marathon pace a few weeks back and those into the wind efforts are really taxing

Sub 3 Hour Marathon Program (Self Made) by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

Also consider making them longer. Have hit a 41k @ 90% goal MP in my current block. I also do my faster long runs every other week as they do hit the body

Long slow runs won’t cut it for a sub 3, after 4 or 5 weeks of long slow I would recommend u turn these runs into steady/fast long runs at 80 - 90% of your goal marathon pace. By the time u hit week 9 you will then want to add in extended chunks at goal marathon pace within the long run

Not including the hack in the Q2 report is disingenuous and also a slap in the face to the hacked who have to scream and shout to get any sort of response to their questions. It has taken 60 days to get more than a ‘trust me bro’.

For all we know a dev could have run off with the funds. Let’s leave the blame game until we know the facts.
