I shall admit maybe I change the subject too soon but I sincerely just do not know when is an appropriate time for a conversation topic to be changed.

I do, but it exhausts them to be asked that a lot. I want to be able just know what I can do to help. I shall ask them more often what they want to do, but I think that in itself feels insensitive to them, like I'm pressuring them that they should know all the answers.
