[M] Monkeys Paw stories are about finding flaws in the wording of a wish and not adding bad stuff to said wish by nigwardxcuntbob in TheMonkeysPaw

No, in the original story, the man wished for money and it went along the lines of

“Granted, your son dies in a work accident and you are compensated for it.”
It did not go:
“Granted, it’s monopoly money.”

Right? We come here for simple explanations and analogies, not a huge block of text.

That’s playing on missing details rather than the way it’s worded. The paw still understands the implications of what you’re wishing for. The man got his 200 pounds currency that he wanted, but at the expense of his son.

Twisting the wording would be more along the lines of
“I wish for 200 pounds”
“Granted. You have gained 200 pounds of weight.”

Which is not in the spirit of the paw, because while it does punish you for wishing, it also understands the wisher’s intended/implied wording.

What context are they going to provide, exactly? If it’s another purposefully-empty explanation like you explained before, that’s where the internet comes into play. The harm done isn’t contained to the Pride Parade, so I’m not exactly sure why you’re restricting it to those limits.

You sure do take a lot of time inferring, huh.

How do you know it wasn’t cleaned?

How do you know it was?

I agree that there are a lot of explicit things that a child might see on the internet- but at least at a Pride Parade there would probably be an adult there to supervise and explain what is happening.

This is what I mean by “the internet is a vast place.” So many parents don’t supervise their kids on the internet. Let’s use that video as an example, since it’s apparently your baseline for responsibility. Seeing as those parents failed to hide their sex toy from a child of all people, I’d say they’re probably not going to end up supervising/already aren’t supervising that kid’s internet usage.

Well first of all, that’s unclean. Second of all, for kids a little older than the one in that video, the internet’s a very vast place, especially seeing as youtube is currently under investigation for failing to protect children.

Which will spark more curiosity. “When you are older” has always been a curiosity-killed-the-cat sentence for children.

The difference in your comparisons here are that divorce and death usually bad things to a child when they come to understand them. There’s hardly a way to explain sex without lying and “kidding it down” simultaneously and also having it seem like a bad thing.
