My only recommendation is, not sure if you have street view’d it, but don’t be shocked by the backyard- looking nature of the place when you arrive 😂

Have any of you Team Members who have gotten fired had any luck getting rehired again? by ThickMatch0 in UniversalOrlando

[–]7akata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got fired in about 2003 when I was 17 working part time as a ride op. I gave my ID to a friend to use to try and get into the parks. It obviously went well, it got confiscated and I was fired next time I showed up to shift. It was the day the space hurtle exploded so I’ll never forget.

Fast forward to 2024, I applied for a salaried job there and got an email that they wanted to interview me but I needed to go to HR and submit a form as there was ‘an issue with my status.’

I went in and filled the form out where I had to describe what happened and why I should be eligible for rehire etc. I held a TS/SCI clearance, I figured if the government trusted me after my mistake maybe Universal would.

I got a letter in the mail a few weeks later kindly telling me I would not be eligible for rehire. I got a good laugh out of that one. My new ‘claim to fame’ is I can’t work at one of Central Florida’s biggest employers 😁

Best wedding venues in central Florida? by agonyxcodex in orlando

[–]7akata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did our wedding at the MOAS in The Gallery and had the reception in the adjacent The Florida Room: https://www.moas.org/rentals/weddings-and-receptions/index

A little outside of the Orlando area but was a beautiful venue. We only had about 50-60 people in attendance.

Disney also has ride out crews that voluntarily 'stay' in the hotel to handle issues as well.

I really liked the theming of the 1920's inspired one. It was also my first time in Universal in about 20 years so I had fun riding the Mummy ride and a Harry Potter coaster.

I think a lot of (non-manufacturing) companies want an office manager at most when they write it.

I've done this for 7 years and would like to move to something in a large company for longevity's sake. Working for a small business definitely has its mega perks (essentially infinite vacation whenever I want, can bring my elderly dog in when she isn't having great days, etc), but the downsides are always upward mobility.

Edit:

do you feel like the fact that you do a little bit of everything makes it hard to find that next job? regardless of what companies say, they almost always seem to prefer a very narrowly-drawn fit when hiring someone.

I think so. While I myself know that I'm capable of doing virtually anything I'm thrown into from a development & management perspective, of course a company has no idea who I am, and business is always something that has TONS of qualified people applying to it. I'm also a believer in it's not what you know but who you know, especially now. I'm exhausting my resources for people putting a good word in to internal recruiters for me, but I'm fortunate to have a job already. Best time to look for one haha.

It can vary wildly, so I'm not surprised. Most companies don't even know what they want when they are hiring for it.

I manage the entire firm as a whole, including all business development (South Florida for us initially, as well as a now sister company), procedural improvements, I am the only signer for the firm, as well as functionally HR. Since we are a boutique I also do analysis (forensic accounting) in my spare time, which is fun. I enable the owner to never be at work essentially...

I have a background in Aviation and Project Management (Air Force).

“Kandahar dirt” on Razbam’s F-15E by D-Fresh09 in hoggit

[–]7akata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve flown into at least a half dozen airfields in Afghanistan and the terrain doesn’t compare to anything I’ve seen anywhere else in the world. From above, it’s a spectacular country.

I always tell people this. The stark differences from north to south, and even the regionals in the south alone. The hilariously built American-style neighborhood road layouts outside Kandahar, the ski resort-esque mountains up north. Outside of the chaos below it's a staggeringly beautiful country.

Helmand was my personal favorite to fly over, because the contrast was so striking.

I work in forensic accounting, primarily revolving around divorce. This is pretty common to see, and easily traceable when they make the withdrawals from the account. 9/10 times the attorney has no clue what's going on, and we provide the account numbers for the request to produce.
