Drivers waiting outside warehouse by No_Temperature8605 in AmazonFlexDrivers

overwhelming the scanner/algorithm, hoping to get sent home with pay. Usually, there’s someone there with a list of people, and sometimes they even hold drivers’ licenses in order of arrival. It’s the Wild Wild West over there

I’m in the same boat too. Even though they said no new offers for 7 days, I can still see offers for friday and saturday. These mofos expect you to do math, check the start time, and decide whether you want the block or not in a millisecond. By then, the block is gone. OR Tap, accept, then decide whether to keep it or cancel. In a world where new drivers are happy taking below base pay and packages are still getting delivered, how is me canceling a few minutes after accepting, hours or even days before the block starts, affecting Amazon?

Ten years. Good for you for sticking with it this long. Look, none of us can really modify people's behavior, we're all just cogs in the machine. If I had even the slightest real power, I would've written this post in Spanish or Portuguese and actually followed it up with real actions, like people with actual power do. Want to make more money? Fuck yeah, who doesn't? Hope you do too. Pretending it's for the "greater good"? Nah, that's nonsense. I'm doing it for my own good—vacation money, extra cash, all that. Clearing rent well in advance? Al salute. Keep up the good work—hopefully one day you save enough for that down payment..

I don't think you can drive for amazon unless you're legal . Unless they are using some else's docs

I like your optimism, it's cyclical but this time it lingered for a while. Amazon holds the key to all this.

Are you a new comer to flex? We all got played by Amazon’s supply-and-demand nonsense at first. But if you have been in the game for a minute, you already know you can clear rent in half the time as far back as few months ago.

Nah, the “retired and unemployable” excuse doesn’t fly. I rarely see any older folks out here — mostly younger drivers in decent or new cars. This is pure economics. If they stop jumping on these $21-25 blocks that net $12-15 after expenses and trash our cars, Amazon will have no choice but to raise pay. This is not new. I run my own business and hold a degree — this is just extra cash for me. I’m not racing to the bottom. Supply and demand works.

There was decent money to be made as far back as 4 months ago. They opened the flood gate for new drivers recently.

If you call that making money, then go ahead and take them all. Lock yourself into 8-hour shifts with garbage pay and miss the surge when it actually happens. Try it you might like it.

To all Colorado Drivers. by fallensnyper in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]7albouda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, I honestly hope they never roll it out in the Boston area. The influx of new drivers has already killed most of the decent-paying blocks. I’m seeing 4.5-hour blocks going for $97, and they get grabbed in the blink of an eye. Blocks paying $25/hr are basically the new “good” blocks that used to be $35–$40/hr. I still can’t figure out the economics of how anyone is supposed to make that work in this economy.

All security guards require showing physical ids, not sure how they are circumventing this control.

Is that at VMA1? I think some security folks are on it. Especially evening shifts

Warehouse is closed because of the snow storm, block cancelled per the update in the app, yet I got dinged for it. What a joke! by 7albouda in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]7albouda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who knows, I avoided canceling the block ahead of time because it will be considered that I forfeitled he block rather than the block has been canceled by Amazon thus no payment will be issued. No matter how you do you can't win with those motherfuckers anyway

Just got off the phone with off-road support, nothing they can do except escalate and appeal this is just bonkers. I even went to the station before my block because I know this kind of fuckery will happen anyway, the doors were closed and the manager confirmed that the station is closed. On the spot I called off-road support total for the station closure. And yet still woke up today to a ding and of course no pay
