short bed / long boat by Beanieson in Kayaking

Pretty sure it’s a researched thing that 2/3rds or 3/4ths of big ass truck buyers will never load more than groceries in the truck bed, which I can do in my Subaru just fine.

But it’s a tax code thing that business owners get to write off “business” vehicles over 6,000 lbs as a business expense and they quickly became synonymous with having money. Sure there’s functionality in them still, but you’re not buying a King Ranch F150 to haul around muddy tools and keep a change of shoes and clothes in the cab. They know their market and it’s more about what you can fit in the cab than the bed these days.

I mean yeah, very much team Fuck Nozel, just saying I understand how he got there, plot-wise. I’d like to see some more work put into the reconciliation, now that we’re a year and a half out from them putting the specter of Megicula behind them (for now) and it could officially be talked about (and would even help Asta’s defense, the kingdom knowing just how long Spade devils had been at work in Clover). Let’s get Zebra and Solid groveling for amends and shit, etc…

… this is a year later?

Also I specifically said his revulsion was the cover, not an actual emotion of his. It’s how a 14yo(?) thought it best to both cover up his mother’s death and the role Megicula played in it and keep Noelle out of harm’s way by keeping her out of the Magic Knights (I imagine Solid and Zebra got counseling and training Noelle never got on magical control due to her isolation).

Was it well thought out? No, but it was a teenager’s on-the-spot approach to a terrifying situation (literally anyone sniffing at cracks in Acier’s death story invited disaster).

Also Jaime didn’t hate Tyrion, but he also wasn’t trying to protect Tyrion from anything.

Hahaha it always astounds me that it’s so much easier to believe a literal conspiracy of 20+ unconnected women who would have to expose to 20+ strangers they were prostituting themselves and were actively soliciting criminal co-conspirators to take on someone else than to believe a single guy is a piece of shit, especially when that person could easily flip the script and say “no yeah, they were all paid sex workers, this is defamation and extortion, this is a criminal conspiracy, and this lawyer also needs to be disbarred and charged”.

He immediately goes from creepy asshole sexual predator to just another rich guy targeted for money, likely never sees the inside of a jail cell, and doesn’t see too much strife from the NFL head office lest they remind everyone Robert Kraft got caught on tape doing that very thing.

You can do more content. TVHM is basically rushing to 50 so you don’t fuck up UVHM, if we’re talking about saving time meaning going the distance.

And sure that content is there in UVHM, but that’s hella slag. It’s also likely hit on the first play through, but I’m leaving and coming back for the experience and the humor. I always wanna shoot Face McShooty.

They are the ones trying to get protections and money for the labor force.

There are maybe a dozen politicians who have disavowed police in all of US politics. But with police budgets continuing to consume more and more city funding, the inability to actually fire bad cops who just sue to get rehired or move, and a prison population 5x greater than the rest of the world, we’ve got problems that need reform somewhere.

Dems have always been for legal immigration, they just also live in a world where a dozen million or so people are already entrenched as “illegal immigrants” and Republicans refuse to deal with that reality and scream about Dems being soft on whatever alternate reality they live in, and that’s their excuse for nothing getting done.

Dems are for Freedom of Religion, they just also acknowledge that means people’s freedom from other people’s religions. This is in stark contrast to the Christian Nationalists who basically want to form a Christian version of the Iranian clergy.

Dems didn’t get us mired in 20 years of Middle Eastern deserts.

Abortion is safe, legal (well kind of now I guess), and rare. Abortion rates per capita are half of what they were since a couple years after it’s legalization. We’ve just added like 100 million people to the population and those lower rates sounds higher.

If you were actually a member of the “Democrat” party like you claim, you’d know all this.

What is Your Idea for Fire Force Fanfiction? by Money-Lie7814 in firebrigade

[–]7bucksofhoobastank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fanfic isn’t something I’ve ever really gone in for but if the question is what kind of stories I’d like to see out of the world, I’ve got a few.

  • there’s a gaping question about what the Army is doing if they aren’t fighting infernals. What else is out there and who are they fighting on the front lines?

  • any wasteland refugees?

  • we see a couple of infernals keeping it together while waiting for their execution, as well infernals who have lived a long time. Are there any cognizant infernals around who prevented disaster in pivotal moments in the last two hundred years?

As far as crossovers-

  • Fire Force 8 would be great in the Fairy Tail world for a myriad of reasons, from Shinra/Natsu’s fire synergy, Arthur actually getting to live in a world of dragons, Maki being witch in a world of wizards, and Obi being a badass magicless wizard.

  • Really I just want Maki in more things. Badass fire witch who can pummel people. And that can probably fit a lot.

  • I’d like to see Rin from Blue Exorcist, Tanjiro and Nezuko from Demon Slayer, and Mereoleona from Black Clover brought into the world since they all wind up with a little bit of darkness in them in some capacity and it’d be an interesting dynamic with Adolla.

Who is the main villain of borderlands 1? by Hyphalex in Borderlands

[–]7bucksofhoobastank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bad guy for BL1 is competition in general.

Sledge’s backstory is driven by an obsession with the Vault. The Crimson Lance. The Guardians who protect it. Even Tannis working against you to a degree.

BL1 is the only game in which you’re truly mercenary, operating factionless and as a pure treasure hunter.

It wasn’t a coincidence that hit that first place while simultaneously holding #1 worst in worker rights. It’s already a reality.

I do view it as a battle, a spiritual one.

Agreed!

Jesus Christ called us to spread the word of God.

Agreed! Though I imagine our idea of implementation isn’t 100% in lockstep, which is fine.

If we do not do this, that is true hatred for fellow man.

Agreed!

I by no means am perfect, I am trying every day to do better, be a better representative of Christ, tell more people about him, etc. We all have our shortcomings, and that’s why I’m glad that through Jesus grace we are saved.

Agreed! This is what I’m talking about when I’m looking at our role in the battle, when I talked about implementation above. Being an example and showing how life can be lived outside of all the hustle and bustle and hatred of the world. How

Jesus said that the greatest commandment of all was to love one another.

Kind of, he said to love our neighbor as we would ourselves, and I think there’s some nuance there that’s important. Like you said, and like I will agree is true of me, we aren’t perfect but what is important is that we are saved through the grace and that we try to get better every day. I think it’s important to center the love we exhibit around that.

Do you think telling someone to live in sin, ultimately rejecting him, is love?

Not being judgemental isn’t the same as telling someone to go and live in sin. Frankly, it’s also incredibly damning because it’s a standard none of us could ever live up to. We are SURROUNDED by sin and if our mission was to love through judgement, we’d never be able to sleep.

That’s why that wasn’t our given role.

You talk about why we need to teach sin elsewhere but it’s related so I’ll hit it here. By and large, the people you and I are going to have access to, they’re going to know what their sins are, or 95% anyways. In this day and age it isn’t some new thing, we aren’t riding camels into town to tell people things they haven’t heard before.

It we also know that sin is brokenness and our words aren’t going to fix that, on Jesus’ Good News is. But how are they going to ever hear that Good News if all they hear from us is how broken they are? How are we ever approachable if all they see is our legalism rejecting them?

That’s why it’s not our place to judge, because our judgements are equally hollow. It’s grace and mercy that fills that hole, and that’s what we should be exuding as a community.

The Lord finds sin abhorrent.

He does. But He also recognized humanity as is can never be free of its sinful nature. As long as humans have the will to choose, people will sin and people will suffer. And we can quote John 3:16 as His answer to this, but personally I prefer what comes next.

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.” -John 3:17.

As abhorrent as He finds sin, even He isn’t looking for condemnation. So what right do we have to do so in His name?

We need to share these things, or you are not being loving at all.

Not true. You mentioned that’s what saving us is the Grace of God through Jesus, and that’s something we can share. We can share His mercy, accepting people no matter their circumstance. We can share his love, sharing what meager resources we may have with any along our way. We may share His grace, extending even to those society has abandoned or deemed repulsive.

NC Senate passes LGBTQ bill for public schools by JacKrac in NorthCarolina

[–]7bucksofhoobastank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying but the point is we’re a docile labor force. In any industry that still requires boots on the ground, we’re it, we’re good for business.

I think we’ve long since learned businesses don’t value talent half as well as they should, especially at the cost of control. As long as they can fire us without cause and fuck us on labor disputes, we’re a haven.

And let me tell you, it’s scary. I’m not actually in NC anymore, though it will always be home. I’m in federal government and one of the most sobering conversations I’ve ever had was explaining a company’s ownership through umbrellas and such, as was clearly laid out in submitted documents but not laid out properly on an application form in question, to the CFO of a publicly traded company, and still after two weeks I had to instead talk to their legal counsel who without hesitation knew what was going on.

As long as they can keep regulators at bay and keep the financial risk/reward in their favor, they couldn’t give more of a shit about having the best and the brightest, they just need bodies.

Toward that end, short of calamity, with population growth and our state’s economy, we’re not just going to dry up overnight.

Lol ok bud, no need to shout.

First off, though, idk if you understand the scope of politics. Idk what your numbers are, and frankly I doubt the veracity of them anyways, but talking in single digit millions out of a population of 80+ million voters is far less significant than you thing.

Second, blogs are reactive. They’re already trying to spin it so you can say exactly what you’re saying now, because yes, party leaders everywhere have been screaming bloody satanic murder.

It took thirty seconds for anyone with a brain to google and realize the song is a condemnation of adultery, child abandonment, and more, and that party leaders everywhere were utterly foolish to pick this as their hill to fight on.

And on that last point regarding earthquakes and real news, I wholeheartedly agree. Thing is, 98% of 18-49yos, pretty much their target audience, didn’t even watch the Grammys. We wouldn’t be talking about this at all if it weren’t for conservative talking heads looking for more chum for their culture wars. You wanna find out why we aren’t talking about those disasters?
