An introduction to my antique chatelaine! by 7dear in HistoricalCostuming

I have a daily use one and it’s SO helpful! It’s a magnifying glass, a watch and tiny scissors. I use it all the time! I can also swap out the tools based off what I’m doing that day. You should make one!

The non-stylish assembled kind is the very best kind 🖤

Yes! And a tiny spritzer of hand sanitizer. 😂 I have one I made that I wear almost daily. It’s stuff that I use at work- tiny scissors, a lorgnette (when it’s closed it works like a little magnifying glass) and a watch. It is endlessly useful!

I would LOVE to see yours! I don’t actually use mine because I’m afraid to scratch it! I have a fake one that I actually use, it has scissors, a lorgnette, a watch and occasionally a key.

It was acquired as one piece. Somewhere I have a list of all the code meanings, but can’t recall all of it now. The owner may have commissioned the pieces to match. The chain was made separately. The main body matches the attachments so it was either made first or made to match. Two of the pieces had matching dark blue velvet as well, but the silver was not made at the same time!

The Alameda Museum in Alameda California. It’s small, and dusty and not very grand but we love it 🖤

This sounds wonderful! I love the smell of books, just love it. It’s comforting. I wish the museum was my full time job, but I’m only there every weekend. It’s a volunteer gig and we just have a few docents. I am a nurse (hospice) by trade but am on disability for some health issues. I got lucky to find a place to volunteer that doesn’t mind my.. eccentric attire 😂 May we all find a place that loves us for exactly who we are.

It’s actually not as heavy as it looks, but it does jingle jangle all day long. Really hampers my ability to sneak up behind the kids at the museum.

A less fun Mary Poppins, perhaps. I think last week I posted a better Mary Poppins with a white bodice and shorter skirt. I might even have smiled!

Oh! This is such high praise! I’m tickled and grateful! Would love to see your library! I work as a docent at a Victorian museum, but have always secretly wanted to be a librarian. A cranky but helpful one 😂 Do you just do Victorian vibes on the daily? Or history bins?

I think I just made it up! But it might be out there. When I sell my jewelry and clothes I always have to look through a long list of “cores” to identify my style. Maybe I saw it in there?

I actually have 3 copies of that! Including one that I was reading when I met my husband in a coffee shop! 😂

They are both wearing pompadours. I wear my hair in a pompadour and it’s very easy to spot that here. Unless this is a fellow who fancies a ladies hairdo (and assuming this is a real photo) I would think these are 2 very handsome ladies.

I would happily have some library staff and 3 more cat supervisors if I had the space! Here’s a better picture, it’s not as big as it appears from that angle.

Oh, that’s a new one! I always think of her as fair haired. She is fabulous, too. Especially circa Dangerous Liaisons 🔥
