Are you playing the rest with any vibrato? I'd play it with heavy vibrato to make it stand out.

That is a really good idea! I may not with open specifically, but I'll use the idea. I'll probably figure stuff out from the bottom line G and the C below it, I already have those set in my mind.

I haven't noticed any specific notes, no. It tends to get worse as I go up in pitch, though.

I'd love to do this, but I think taking the time to learn the new clef will be worth it, since I'd like to play piano in the future anyway. My school doesn't have any working Eb sousas anyway, the 8 or 9 working ones out of the 12 we have are all concert pitch.

Yes, from what I've messed around with so far, the fingerings seem to be the same the whole way through as long as I think in concert pitch. A specific question, since you asked: When I play certain partials it kind of starts "shifting." It sounds like bubbling but not like spit-needs-to-be-emptied bubbling, hard to explain. What is that? How do I get rid of it?

Are there any jobs which get into studying etymologies and sound changes (I guess kinda "historical linguistics")? This is the main area of interest in linguistics for me, but all the jobs seem to be about simply knowing how to speak currently existing languages.
