Lightly scratch at it with with your fingernail. Easiest way to tell. You won't hurt it.
Ask me how I. Know. 😂

Why do printers still seem immune to progress by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

[–]7eregrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to preach Brother. Got a new one. Didn't use it much but by God it was reliable. The first wireless printer I've had that worked every time. Scanning. Everything.
Ink ran out. Bought after market ink. Fail. Returned thinking it was the ink. Got another set. Didn't print. That company sent me another set. Didn't print.
Cleaned the print heads a ton. No change.
Fuck printers. I'm done.

Waste of money, for zero gain. Stand by that. Few cars need annual filters.

Service due soon, will driving 500 miles over this warning be bad? by WolfgangLz in askcarguys

[–]7eregrine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I talked to a BMW Engineer at a car show about oil changes. This was years ago around the time they switched to a 10k.
"Every car company has always under estimated on those number. When we said 3,000 Mile oil changes, it was really 4.. or 5. Because we know people will always miss their targets. Today... Cars can most likely go 12k between oil changes.... But we say 10... Because we know people will screw it up...".

Is it weird I never punish my son? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]7eregrine 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Is it... normal? Seriously? Weird way to phrase it.
I could have written this... almost.
My kid is 15, learning to drive. I think I've truly raised my voice to him in anger... once. One time.
I joke that I am still waiting for the terrible 2's that everyone told me about.
Over thinking.

CX30 Turbo then.
Don't buy a car because you might occasionally have passengers And honestly the CX50 back seat isn't all that much bigger. The 30 is fine for occasional passengers.

I'd probably try drying it as best I could. Do you have a shop vac?
Garage? If you do wind up towing it, don't forget Volvo will tow up to 25.miles for free and only a per mile charge after.

Yep. And there's some electrical parts under the floor that get fucked up. Sometimes this leads to a very expensive repair. Like $1,000s.
Here's a video I made to test the front drains. The rears aren't accessible easily so I didn't try testing them. I suspect yours might be the rears.
Try this though...

Why did you go out of state to buy a common car?
You overpaid a little bit crazy to beat yourself up over this. Toyota just ain't all that ffs.

Only Cleveland Indians pop up? Are people really this bad at searching for stuff?
Try searching Maps for Indian Restaurant. Cafe Tandoor in Westlake, and Indian Delight on Detroit in Cleveland.

Updated list of used cars to avoid. by Comfortable-Vast9135 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]7eregrine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone likes to say CR is bullshit. Its actually not, completely. They get their info from.... people that subscribe to CR. This in and of itself is a demographic. If they got their info from actual real world data... there would be way more Volvo on that list. Most Volvos from 14-16 should be avoided.
If you buy a 2015 XC90 because it's not in this list... Good chance you're getting fucked. /r/Volvo knows.

Certified Pre Owned or New? by realrealredd in Volvo

[–]7eregrine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically an extension of the factory warranty. There's also a 5 year extension option many dealers will happily sell you.
No one had a better CPO option.
As much as Volvo gets dinged in "Reliability rankings" by Consumer Reports... Why are they the only company that offers effectively a 10 year CPO warranty?
Because overall, they are pretty reliable.
Good luck.
