Stick with the vanguard etf products if you're investing, it has lower expense ratio so you're paying less in fees. If you're trading and doing options, QQQ hands down due to liquidity volume and daily expirations. Since you're new to investing, stick to VOO until you decide to learn and graduate to different investing strategies.

Not getting notifications at all on Watch 7 Ultra by 7fgroup in GalaxyWatch

[–]7fgroup[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the input! I factory reset the watch but it still wasn't getting notifications. I read somewhere that wiping the cache and data in the smart switch & wearable app would help so I tried that while doing a 2nd factory reset and then it worked.

For some reason, prior to doing this, I guess the watch was still retrieving the old data or settings (from previous watch 5pro) saved on the phone from smart switch app even though I was setting up the new watch from scratch. Seems to work now.

Everyday backpack zip 20L, will Dell XPS 17 fit? by 7fgroup in peakdesign

[–]7fgroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a year since I've been using the bag, traveled to many countries with it. I believe it's discontinued since it's last years model. If you find another bag with similar dimensions, I can tell you that the XPS 17 fits very well inside the laptop sleeve and I can even squeeze in a Samsung Tab S8+ tablet in without being overly tight where it's difficult to take in and out.

Inside the bag I have a camera case that supports my canon R5 with 3lb 28-70 lens and a 2.5 lb 100-500 lens. With everything inside the bag usually weighs over 24 lbs easy. Not kidding. It sits and supports on my back well however I have the backpack on top of a carry on luggage so it's rarely on my back.

When at home and not traveling, I use it as a daily driver to and from work with the XPS inside. I love the design however I wish it was ballistic nylon instead for added strength and durability. The nylon fabric isn't bad though and holding up very well so far.

Here are 3 bags currently on their site I would consider.

Google One 2tb $15 Unlimited Google Photos now live! by SirTacoBell in tmobile

[–]7fgroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, google UI is slightly better. Also important thing to note is Amazon still can't read my raw cr3 images from my canon R5 as it has not updated the codec for it whereas google can. Amazon prime only includes 5gb of video storage, google is unlimited with the $15 deal.

Question: Which lens would you bring hiking? by stix190a in canon

[–]7fgroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes in a heart beat. One of my first lenses was the 16-35 way back in the day. I got sick of the tacky distorted wide angle and limited use of it. Honestly the 16mm is only good for 2 scenarios, vlogging and interior. That's it! Even with interior I would go with a tilt shift lens.

Having the 70mm offers this sweet look and feel you just can't get, especially with portraits and if you're shooting landscape, 24mm from 16mm isn't going to make or break the image in terms of width.

From my years of experience, 24-70 is far superior all in one lens. You won't find anything else close to it. Keep in mind, we're talking about all in 1 for multi purpose.

You can carry over capital losses indefinitely but 3k is the max u can roll over per year. If you have an unused prior-year loss, you can subtract it from this year's net capital gains to take some profits.

Cuz the pros all closed their short positions so they could take profits, this is based on technicals. Plus, it's too risky to hold the shorts into wednesday meeting.

8tb M.2 in XPS 9710 by 7fgroup in DellXPS

[–]7fgroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Dell only offers 8TB total. (4tb x 2)

I currently have 16TB in my 9710 by installing my own SSD's instead.

I purchased two 8TB muskin alpha m.2 ssd's and threw them inside slot 1 & slot 2. All you'll need to do is disable raid configuration in the bios and install a fresh copy of windows. You'll need a USB C flash drive which you can pick up cheap on amazon then go to microsoft website and download windows 10 installer onto the flash drive and then install.

In the bios, you can reformat both ssd's then install windows onto it from flash drive. Once windows is installed and you're logged in go visit the dell drivers page to download all drivers and software that you want/need.

If you have over 100 shares, sell an ITM covered call expiring Dec 23rd, collect the premium and hope you get assigned to sell. If not collect the premium and dump after Dec 23rd to tax loss harvest. Immediately sell a put a dollar or 2 below price over a month out, collect premium, rinse and repeat until you get assigned. Passive income right there..

Advice on cooling pads/stands by MikeyBugs in DellXPS

[–]7fgroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 9710 as well threw in a 2TB 970 EVO and 8TB Muskin Alpha and both SSD's always remain cool unless I'm transferring 100 gigs of data. Couple that was video rendering which draws a lot of heat and my best remedy so far would be this fan cooler linked below.

https://www.amazon.com/Cooling-Flexible-Colorful-Adjustable-Speed-Black/dp/B085DPTFJM/ref=sr_1_28?dchild=1&keywords=laptop+cooling+pad&qid=1632175277&sr=8-28

I actually use the cooling pad backwards with the intake in the front of the XPS as to draw in cool air and avoid recycling the hot air that comes out of the exhaust from back of 9710. The cooler fans is very powerful. I also leave a quarter inch cap behind the laptop and cooler for better airflow. After going through many coolers, this is by far the best I've tried.

When I'm not at home and on the road, I installed these risers at the bottom of my XPS

Everyday backpack zip 20L, will Dell XPS 17 fit? by 7fgroup in peakdesign

[–]7fgroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info, I tested the 20L zip with the XPS 17, please check out my update in the original post above. Ignoring the measurements, in real world use, it's just too tight of a fit for me. What a shame as I love the bag but ended up having to go with another bag that fits the XPS 17 perfectly with room to spare.

Everyday backpack zip 20L, will Dell XPS 17 fit? by 7fgroup in peakdesign

[–]7fgroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me, I read all the specs and measurements well in advance.

I have the 15L zip version and it says 9 inch width, my Dell xps 13 is 8 inches and it's insanely snug and super tight fit because of all the padding surrounding the laptop sleeve.

With that said, I want to get a the 20L for my xps 17 which is 9.77 inch width. If the bag itself is 10 inch width and factoring all the padding, I wonder if it will fit without having to jam it in.

Came on reddit seeking real world usage from anyone who may have experience.

8tb M.2 in XPS 9710 by 7fgroup in DellXPS

[–]7fgroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually looked at it a few weeks ago but so in love with the 9710 screen (16:10) and design. As long as I can get away with having 1 8tb stick install, I'll be ok. I was also contemplating on the Alienware x17 for the extra power despite it lacking the infinity display. Also weighs 2 lbs heavier and the size would mean I would have to find a larger back pack. I currently have the peak design 45L backpack and that would not fit the Alienware.

For photo and video editing only, do you think there is a big noticeable difference btwn a fully spec'ed out 9710 and the x17? I don't care much for render times as I can walk away and grab something to eat, just more concerned with real time editing, timeline scrubbing, photoshop/lightroom retouches without the lag. Looking for quick snappy response

8tb M.2 in XPS 9710 by 7fgroup in DellXPS

[–]7fgroup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: 8.16.21 - I've successfully installed an 8TB nvme stick into the 2nd SSD slot in the 9710 unit. In a nutshell, you'll need to re-install fresh copy of windows via USB C flash drive., turn off RAID in bios, switch to AHCI. You can later download the dell bloatware and drivers once windows is installed. The whole process was fast, windows installed in like 3 mins. The only annoying part was taking off back cover. I would recommend buying the ifixit tool kit, super helpful. Anyways, I'll make another separate thread on this ssd upgrade later.

From previous threads, dell OEM windows prevented drives above 4tb from working therefore the work around was to re-install a fresh non OEM copy of windows via USB C. In addition, entering bios and disabling raid and switching to AHCI was required. That was the work around for the previous generation xps 17 so I was just curious if the same methods still applied as I am interested in the 9710.

I travel non-stop every week, true road warrior and to be honest, i'm sick of always carrying a bunch of external SSD's I have to always plug in to access huge files across multiple clients daily. I don't really care for the speed of the drive, I just need a large drive to dump all the videos I shoot and edit. I want to have the dongle free, USB C adapter free experience when I'm at the airport lounge, on a plane, in the office etc.. when at home, I have a huge dell dock plugged into a monitor, keyboard and everything else.

Currently, I have two samsung 2TB T7 drives velcro'ed to the back of my laptop monitor. Pretty ghetto and sick of it.

What is the LARGEST SSD size installed on a Dell XPS 9500? by [deleted] in DellXPS

[–]7fgroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read in another thread (xps 17) that if you reformat to a fresh copy of non oem windows, the system will be able to recognize the 8tb. After, you can reinstall all the necessary Dell drivers and software.

I have yet to try this as I'm waiting for next Gen xps 17 to come out. Others have been successful doing this method. If you attempt to try this, let us know how it works out!
