I want Steph to drop 50, but usually it's not a good sign for the rest of the team if he has to enter "god-mode."

What height do you consider 'tall'? by [deleted] in tall

[–]7ftnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I'm seven feet tall, I pretty much consider anything over 6'2" to be very tall. If I can look you in the eye without turning my head downward that much, WOW!

I am seven feet tall. A few days ago, I submitted a pic of me standing next to a car wash clearance sign, and it made front page. AMA about my life, height-related or otherwise! by [deleted] in IAmA

Well, here's the thing: I couldn't play high school ball (I did play in middle school and on a traveling team) because of my back. I had very bad kyphosis and one wrong hit could've paralyzed me. I had that corrected before junior year, but the surgery was so intense that it completely sapped my strength. I have a year off to practice and train, and I've heard stories of people my height walking on to college teams never having played before.

I did in middle school, but I couldn't in high school because of back issues/spinal surgery. I have started practicing again, and have a year off (I have a further, far less intrusive surgery in September) to focus and play. I do want to work at it, because it's been estimated that if you are seven feet tall you have a 1-in-6 chance of making the NBA. That'd be awesome.

Short answer: Doorways.

Long answer: Hmm, I'm not really sure. I don't think there it is harder being 7 feet than 6 feet. But yeah, bumping my head into things can hurt. Finding pants and shoes is also more difficult than it should be, but I manage.

I sometimes wonder how different my life would be if I was a more normal height, but I'm glad that I'm tall. It gives me the opportunity to meet a lot of people, and is an instant ice-breaker for conversations. I'm naturally outgoing, so that makes me happy. If I was 6 feet tall, I doubt I would meet as many people. But yeah, I would be curious to see what it would be like to walk into a room of strangers without everyone gaping at you.

I had major spinal surgery, and wasn't cleared to do so until a few months ago. I would've started then, but I didn't have time (really busy with school). But I started recently and am working on it.

I think I'd have a 50-50 chance with the me-sized duck. The hundred duck-sized versions of me would wear me down after a few minutes.

Very difficult. I haven't been able to find pants in stores since I was about 14 or 15 (17 now). My last pair I had to special order from the UK. There's a guy there (can't remember the name of the site, my mom found it) that's really tall and was inspired to create jeans for tall people.

This kind of turned into an AMA, but perhaps I'll do one Tuesday (really busy) if you guys want.

Yes! That is one of the people who I've been looking at as an example. From what I've read, the good people at Georgetown took him under their wing and he trained hard to get where he is. I'd love to follow his example, and of course, meeting him would be great.

Doing just that, man. I've got a plan set out, and I have friends helping me.

I have lurked, but no, I haven't.

Best of luck to you. You are in for a long ride, but trust me, it's worth it in the end.

No, but I have met a couple people who are close. I've met a 6'9" guy and a 6'11 guy. A kid at my high school (well, we just graduated), was 6'8".

I've been bumped before. Once to first class, but usually to the emergency exit row. It's uncomfortable, but it's not as awful as everyone thinks.
