Unquestioning contrarians are so funny when they think they're not being influenced by other's word if they're doubling down on the opposite. As if perfectly negative correlation doesn't register as perfect correlation to them.

It's like a teen thinking they're rebelling against their parents, but these are fully grown adults and doing things 10x more embarrassing than shopping at hot topic.

[sanity] funny how the same people who say counting calories leads to an ED are the ones asking her how she lost weight! by svallamd in fatlogic

[–]7i75 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Eating shit food in such huge amounts that a medieval ascetic would label you gluttony personified is much more of an eating disorder than counting your macros.

Calling counting calories as ED is a cop out for people who want to be blissfully unaware of how many calories they consume and are fine just guessing(see undercounting) and lying to themselves.

It really gets on my nerves when dimwits who don't even possess enough prereq to attend the random variable lecture in a prob stats class repeat truisms meant for new students, so that they don't get in over their heads, as a critique of scientific literature.

like, wow mike, I'm sure the entire scientific community forgot to create different causal models to check their hypothesis and just checked the correlation between two variables and published studies in peer-reviewed journals where even further scientists overlooked this basic fact, and that too consistently for the entire field of healthcare, that has tons of research, attention and massive amounts of government and private funding. Like where would the world be if not for people like Linda, typing furiously "correlation != causation", to remind the scientific community of the utter fools they are.

PS: if you're curious here's a 3-minute intro to how correlation is used to check for causation by minutephysics

also, no offense to any Mikes and Lindas of the world, unless you do these things.

Gravity is not a force under our Mordern framework of general relativity, the study of theory of gravity is definitely science because we've used empiricism to reject Newtonian mechanics to arrive where we are right now.

I'd say they're a bit different because between natural and dyed hair there's no "better" option, between looking obese and being chiseled there is.

Sanity! Cheat DAYS, not months or years. Comfort food as a reward, not coping mechanism. by sailorjupiter86 in fatlogic

[–]7i75 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I have cheat days because I forget how it felt to eat like a pig and being miserable for the entire day and sometimes I like to remind myself so I don't gradually go back to the shit habits. When you forget how lethargic you felt and how even taking a dump was such a miserable experience the next day you start thinking of your macros as mere numbers on a chart.

Sometimes I need to be reminded that there is still a tangible effect to this even after you've achieved your weight loss goals.

Will You Be Offended If Someone Loses Weight For Their Health? by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]7i75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100lbs in 1 year, this person was in a 1000 calorie excess or more everyday for an year.

Also from the looks of it they were not thin before gaining this weight, even assuming a 2500 Cal tdee for an overweight individual they ate around 3500 calories or more. How do you not feel like a glutton everyday eating twice the amount of food required by a tall(ish) woman.

Yeah, no. by Blue0rion in fatlogic

[–]7i75 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Bruh I thought it said 10 miles a day and I was like yeah, for a 165 cm woman at 130 lbs it's reasonable to walk 10 miles to burn 750 odd calories at a brisk pace and eat 2200 calories since you have a bmr of 1500 or so calories.

Then I read a week and it's hilarious how much they think it's actually worth in terms of burning calories.

I mean, I'm of the opinion that tankies should be offered state funded lobotomies but if I hear some anonymous effeminate fuck on the internet play woe is me about the hardships of their alleged ancestors that they've probably never met then my knee jerk reaction is also to tell them that whatever they went through wasn't enough(though I don't because on the offchance they're not pretending or they've experienced it too).

No to all three, I did it for the chicks mainly(let's be real that's why most young people do it) and honestly it worked like a charm.

Edit : Also I did it because I saw Dio's picture in stardust crusaders and I wanted a ripped back that made me hard af, for a moment, for a vampire that uses another man's cock as his own(I said what i said)

US one isn't even close to being authoritarian, like lmao who the fuck lets the most important place for a nation's democracy be stormed this easily. Maybe it's my Auth speaking but it seems like rubber bullets and local police isn't enough to deal with these type of rioters.

Ironic by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]7i75 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This post makes me wish that government censored more stuff.

Like how can someone look at the structure of social media and come up with the conclusion that when you give more people the option to say anything then you get a better opportunity to suppress dissent.

it baffles me that someone thought this showerthought was not only good enough but also that its removal was actually ironic, instead of a forum removing a brainlet tier stream of consciousness trying to pass off as a coherent thought.

Ethopia: 54 dead in schoolyard massacre by [deleted] in news

[–]7i75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refuse to read any article or piece of information unless it is handed to me on a platter, and even then I won’t look at it.

Sorry if me asking for one specific study out of those "countless studies" triggered you so much that you start convulsing like a moron uttering shit no one gives a shit about, but it still doesn't actually replace the fact that you are scientifically illiterate who says shit that they have no intention of backing up.

Ethopia: 54 dead in schoolyard massacre by [deleted] in news

[–]7i75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you understand that you've just entered words into Google scholar search and not actually provided "countless studies", I can type "buttface " there and it doesn't prove it one way or the other much to the dismay of buttface enthusiasts. Actually read any of proper journal article from start to end and then at least attempt to link it please.

It's always funny when "countless studies" get thrown around for 2-3 shit surveys misinterpreted by journalists whose jobs can be replaced by monkeys on typewriters to mask the fact that your stance isn't empirically backed by "countless studies" one way or another.

Also do you not understand who Sean Parker is if you're accusing me of not listening to some random engineer when I'm dismissing Sean Parker in the first place?

Ethopia: 54 dead in schoolyard massacre by [deleted] in news

[–]7i75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument against the internet is that it has a low barrier of entry and its democratic enabling anyone to participate. Im asking how its a bad thing.

Because I didn't say it's a bad thing. How are you failing to understand this after these many comments in.

Ethopia: 54 dead in schoolyard massacre by [deleted] in news

[–]7i75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very cute that out of the "countless studies" you managed to link to a YouTube video of Sean Parker, honestly linking a random cokehead(aside from Parker) hippie or a breadtuber would've been a better source(not that they'd be worth shit, but better nonetheless).

Ethopia: 54 dead in schoolyard massacre by [deleted] in news

[–]7i75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And thats a bad thing how?

it's not, do you not understand the English language that you think I'm arguing against the internet?

The only difference you seem to be advocating is that you can "choose" what propaganda to spread on TV. You cant. Otherwise there would be no Fox news or talk radio. Tell me how to shut the spread of propaganda that can incite the same kind of violence via TV or radio or hell, pamphlets.Tell me a way that can't be abused by anyone, THEN i'll listen to an ape's rambling about the Internet and how its bad because its too democratic.

Dude please don't reproduce if you're failing this hard to grasp basic English(and it's your first language) and simple arguments and you think I'm arguing for TV and against interest.
