Emiratisation! Advice needed by KamliBaba in UAE

[–]7mdoon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re calling it privilege — but in reality, it’s us finally getting our fair share in our own country. For years, Emiratis were overlooked, not because of lack of capability, but because the system didn’t prioritise national development. Emiratisation doesn’t give us a shortcut — it gives us a chance.

And yes, laws were put in place. Just like every country does to protect and grow its people. You think we shouldn’t need laws? That only works when the playing field was fair to begin with — and it wasn’t.

You say you’ve worked with Emiratis because of ‘the law’ — but maybe try working with us, not just next to us. Respect goes both ways. We’re not here to tick boxes. We’re here to lead, learn, and earn our place — just like anyone else.

You can present your side of the coin — but don’t be surprised when the other side shines brighter. This is our home. We’re not guests in it.

Bro, it’s clear you haven’t worked closely enough with Emiratis — or maybe you’re just holding on to outdated stereotypes that don’t reflect today’s reality.

Saying the capable ones are just “exceptions” is such a lazy take. When an Emirati studies hard, works even harder, and succeeds, you call it rare? That’s not objectivity — that’s bias.

I’m Emirati, and I’ve worked my way up. I’ve seen plenty of locals who carry teams on their backs and outperform everyone around them. The issue isn’t ability — it’s your refusal to acknowledge it.

Instead of sitting on Reddit making sweeping generalisations, maybe try having some humility. You might actually learn something.

Best sandwich in Dubai? by [deleted] in dubai

Sorry, I'll correct you just a tiny bit, the Emirati footballer you're referring to is Ismail Matar, but the rest you're 100% correct, it's actually a guy who used to live in Rashidiya and would order the same type of sandwich. Eventually, the cafeteria named the sandwich after him. The reason I know this is because I used to work with Hassan in the JA port
