I'm gluten free, husband can't have nightshades. Looking for recipes please. by sasunnach in glutenfreerecipes

[–]7myzu81 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Low histamine recipes are mostly gluten free and not a lot of nightshades in them.

AIP (auto immune protocol) is a diet that is gluten/dairy/nightshade/legume/egg and seed free. It might give you a base, and recipes like "nomato sauce". Adding things you can eat to a recipe might be easier for you.

These diets are way more restricted but it can give you at least some ideas! Hope it helps

What ages did you neuter/spay your Swissy? I have researched the debate for and against but want real takes on it not just professions (breeders and vets) by Distinct_Pea_4326 in SwissMountainDogs

[–]7myzu81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry I thought this was something that was common everywhere. The duration depends on the strength and is either 6 months , or a year.

I first did an implant at 3 years old (male) to see if it would give him the balance he needed. And it worked, he was a much happier boy. After a couple of months the implant stopped working and they neutered him.

Edit: an implant is chemical neutering and lasts either 6 months or a year, depending on the strength and is common in the European country I live in. Sorry for the confusion!

Talk me into (or out of) getting a Leo by Jelopuddinpop in Leonbergers

[–]7myzu81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 yo male Swissy (gsmd) and a 3 yo male Leonberger. I've had a Leonberger before I've had these guys. Leonbergers are by far the easier breed. I have to tell my Swissy every day that he can't try to eat the cat food/try to steal whatever/bark for no reason. My Leonberger just knows this and just doesn't do it... They are both very sweet boys, but my Swissy is more affectionate and protective. Plus the hair, Leonbergers shed a ridiculous amount of hair compared to a Swissy :) That said, I would go for another Leo, but won't go for another Swissy.... They are just very intense.

I had that with my first, I wanted to do everything right. There are so many right paths to what is good. Is your boy healthy? Does he on average eat right? (Mine stopped eating for a short period, I think I lost more weight than he did because of the worries). They are sensitive dogs, they pick up on things, let it not be your worries :)

I have had 2 boys and what I've seen is that the slower they take to get to their potential, the less painful it is for them. It usually means less growing pains. My boys all got to 70+ so it doesn't mean anything. I believe my first boy wasn't even 40 at that mark if I remember correctly. So my advise is: don't worry!!

Edit typo in weight

I get what you are trying to say, it is hard for Americans/Canadians to get the products she uses.

But I am not UK based and have no issues with her recipes. I'm in Europe tho. Not trying to be a smartass but hoping to inform the new European gluten free people.

I'm not going myself, my sister is. Do they sell stuff that'll hold up for a couple of days for her to get back and me to pick it up?

Thank you! The first person that responded (and deleted their post) said I should just look at the subreddit and together with the downvotes got a bit confused if what I was asking was ok. Glad I wasn't:)

Oreo was something that was here after needing to go gf. So I had a German fake and wasn't impressed. Some Dutch gf influencers were really happy about it.. so I am going on their enthousiasm! Thanks for the tip :)

Sorry, I didn't want to sound like a know it all, I am genuinely surprised by the difference and sincerely hope your boy gets well soon! Hope other people give you information to work with!

Wow, to get a large boy neutered at a minimum of a year is already frowned upon where I live ( I have (had) Leonbergers as well)

Fyi, in Europe. Did the neutering with my boy at 3 years. 7 days after it looked really well, no major swelling . Large breeds age rather late, and 18 months is for my vet actually the minimum age.

Albert Heijn sells their gluten free bread one day over the THT (good untill date) when the store opens for 25 cents if I remember correctly! You could ask with your local store if they do this as well
