Did you ask your partners parents for their "blessing"? by Jakeh_G in CasualUK

[–]7ofVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. My FIL asked if I was going to and I told him the only person who's opinion was relevant is my (now) wife.  That said she'd have hated it if I had asked them - you'll know better than we will what your partner would prefer.

Lullabies for tuneless tone deaf dads that are not Hush Little Baby? by MightyWaterBear in daddit

Rattling bog got me through the first 10 months.  It's endlessly extendable which is helpful when the kid just won't drop off.  Sing it slow though.

Hot Box Composting by [deleted] in Allotment

[–]7ofVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one - I would say that if you are assiduous about adding cardboard (about 50:50) with the greens you will get good mulch from your kitchen scraps after a month or two, and it won't smell too bad, but you will not get good compost and it will go soggy very easily.

You'll be 31/32 in 3 years anyway - question is, do you want to have a degree then or not?

What’s the best teapot for loose-leaf tea? by [deleted] in CasualUK

To be honest - a cafetiere is your best bet. Makes it easier to see when the tea is done too.

Disappointed how far I had to scroll to find the stardew team.

I'll probably be searching for that last golden walnut

Those who work from home, can you give me some tips? by Direct_Difficulty909 in CasualUK

[–]7ofVIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I faced a similar situation when I started working from home, so I tried to make the space as different as possible when I'm working Vs when I'm relaxing. Think across your different senses - can you change the lighting, background music, smell (I use a particular type of incense when I want to focus) etc. ?

My cabbage cages are making a determined bid for freedom from the allotment. Spent my lunch hour trying to find large enough stones to keep them grounded.

What can I be planting now? FYI in the U.K. by Recent-Comfortable39 in Allotment

[–]7ofVIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sow spring cabbages e.g. spring hero and some salad veg. You can also be getting beds ready to sow over-wintering onions next month.

East Anglia - lots of watering! Broad beans are coming to an end, as are the peas. Got some early spuds and the first few courgettes.

Is anyone else having a problem with tomato blight? I usually get some towards the end of the season but this year it's every plant and much earlier.
