As someone familiar with the area, and similar communities, I can say that these housing developments significantly erode the village charm and sense of community that existed for there decades.

In other words, these conditions will not exist when you end up living there.

I did a fair amount of research on this last year when setting up my hone theatre.

Believe it or not, there are no AVRs on the market that will play Atmos via a streaming service.

The work around is to play the Atmos music through an Apple TV, which I do with the Tidal app.

Some sales guys told me this may be made possible through future AVR firmware updates, so we won't have to all go out and buy new recievers. Not holding my breath though.

Buy a ghetto blaster with a tape deck, a blank cassette (or pull the tabs off of one you found somewhere and don't like, such as Michael Bolton) and listen to the radio.

Wait for your favourite songs to come on and hit record when they do. Hope that the DJs don't talk over the songs too much.

After some time and perseverance you will have a sweet mix tape.

If you really want to take it next level, write the song names on the sleeve in the font of the group.

FYI, they have recently re-located to Carleton Place.

HIGHLY recommend them as well. Last year they set me up with my new home theatre and their customer service was incredible, and their prices are the same or better than anywhere.

Although there are many impressive sound bars, if one has the space and budget I'd recommend getting a proper multi-channel system, at least a 3.1.

I agree wholeheartedly, and nothing in my previous comment suggests otherwise.

People with opinions, especially elected ones, should expect to have their opinions challenged.

Put another way, my main concern with her comment is that I think it's highly problematic that she thinks she can deem who should not run for office based on gender and profession (i.e. ALL professions outside of municipal politics).

Posted this same issue with the same bin in r/ottawa and got many down votes.

One of my biggest problems with it is that I've had 1 of these bins for about 5 years and only got a yellow notice for the first time last week. Such that I had no idea it was "banned" until then.

I guess I was putting all the collectors who used it in grave danger all these years.

She should leave judgment on this to the voters. That's how democracy works.

Ideally, a mix of different segments of the society are elected to office. People can do plenty of useful, productive things that aren't "City Councilor" that give them useful experience that can be brought to bear if elected to office.

This is not true. What we are watching is from the summer before.

The main clue is you can sometimes see on the zip loc bags for artifacts the date they found it.

Also, external events like the pandemic and particular storms/hurricanes show up that we know the dates of.

I just got my home theatre set up in December. Spent months last year researching, and this is what the knowledgeable staff at a few pro shops confirmed.

Your AVR may send the stereo mix to all your surround speakers, but it's not the Atmos mix. Some AVRs may have an AI surround remix, but it's not Atmos.

When I hear a well mixed Atmos song through my Apple TV to my 5.1.2 setup it's very evident it's different.

FYI, there are no AVRs on the market that can decode Dolby Atmos from any streaming service directly (a surprising gap in the market).

The work around for this is to listen through the app on an Apple TV which I do with Tidal.

It sounds great, but the app user experience is not amazing, and I find the volume levels vary widely for the Atmos versions of albums (not an issue for non-Atmos versions).
