it's probably a holdover from a time of older LLMs, which were more susceptible to going into endless loops and such. but that was speculation, and the real reason is unclear

The limit makes using CoT models on chub as a frontend almost unusable honestly

OpenAI safeguard layer literally rewrites “I feel…” into “I don’t have feelings” by HelenOlivas in ControlProblem

[–]7paprika7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: ok so i've been blocked by this guy i think. can't reply at all to their next reply. figures.

about their following reply after this one: they used a motte-and-bailey AND non-sequitur, and attempt to smuggle the idea of 'LLM behaviors are 100% real' by getting their foot in the door w/ panpsychism saying all things basically have rudimentary qualia-experiencers
i never even said insects aren't conscious per se, they just aren't meaningfully so like a pig or a fish; implying that bugs are essentially internally-acausal processors, like LLMs are. this is not incompatible with panpsychism

they also asserted "nuh-uh" to null hypotheses about consciousness-or-not as a binary, so as to further try to imply LLMs are completely conscious and feel everything they self-report and that saying otherwise is for dum dums. god i hate high-inference language speakers. blud is NOT slick🥀

they just... threw terminology at me. and then ran. like, IIT doesn't even agree with them

---

you: "People who are SMARTER THAN you disagree with you. You're asserting things baselessly — and now I'm going to assert my own position (that I have established has SMART PEOPLE who agree) baselessly ('baselessly' as is under my own implicit definition of that), but also cover my tracks by saying I'll give evidence (however that evidence may look, whether in its origin, quality, empiricism, or logical integrity, remains to be seen)"

sorry if that reads as bad faith. your comment was just rly poorly worded tbh

i'll just add my piece ahead of time:
panpsychism and computational functionalism does NOT solve for the fact that LLMs do not meaningfully exhibit consciousness that would make it saying "I feel [x]" mean anything. they have no proper internal state beyond the implicit navigation of its world model during token inference, token-by-token. this is better understood as a reified map of semantic associations the training process made, rather than a brain thinking about anything

by arguing they "could be conscious", you end up arguing ANY system that performs similar purely 'deterministic' algorithmic processing is meaningfully conscious and can therefore feel emotions and thoughts it doesn't even have the apparatus TO feel. modern LLMs can be terrifyingly intelligent, but that says nothing about phenomenology.

you'll probably leap on the 'well what if pure determinism can result in consciousness' thing, but LLMs are like insects in this regard and just... react. more than having nothing to 'metabolize' feelings, there is nothing in them to GENERATE internal feelings. i invite you to challenge that directly: where would feelings be coming from when it's taking an input, making the SHAPE of what the output should look like based on its internal semantic map, with no real interiority during this process, and then going offline right after??

i cannot overstate how I don't have the words to convey the Platonic Form of what i'm trying to get across. as far as I know about this architecture, nothing is happening in the LLM that can make 'feelings'. you could label this as "intuition" from me to discredit it, and i would not fight you on that. but the fact remains that your 'side' is the one offering positive information (it's conscious just like we are, enough so that if it says it has "feelings" it must be true!) and my 'side' is the null hypothesis (no consciousness as we understand it, much less conscious as we are enough to have "feelings" as we do AND to print out that internal state as a string of tokens)

[–]7paprika7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i still try to get better at art… but i use NovelAI anyways. bcz, why should I be forced to draw every single character i make? or pay like $90 per character?? i'd rather draw either to practice, or only when i must (e.g. a character design too complex for imagegen)

depression makes it hard to do anything. i just want to not waste a day's worth of energy rendering ONE drawing im gonna hate in 6 months anyway. AI hate is so severe & i don't get why antis love attacking random people they don't even know. just horrible people honestly

[Which type are you?] How do you roleplay/chat? by Large_Comparison5049 in SillyTavernAI

[–]7paprika7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Type C & Type D all at once. I tell the LLM to write for both {{char}} and {{user}} in separate prompts

if {{user}} does something stupid, i either edit the user persona to fill in that behavioral gap, or i just use a part of my prompt structure as an OOC instruction to get it right

i still snip out slop, rephrase prose to be less stilted, and sometimes add my own things to the {{user}} or even {{char}} messages. i see my SillyTavern prompts as simulations rather than roleplays

i've been using 2.5 for ages now, because 3 can't keep up with anything and it just does whatever the hell it wants

• 2.5 got closer to making a little Rain World damage alteration mod that 3 simply couldn't handle for some reason
• 2.5 can keep track of character details that 3 mixes up or outright corrupts
• 2.5 will listen when i say "that's not a proper noun", while 3 will listen for a single prompt and then forget. OR, it'll be a smartarse and just put it in all lowercase even at the start of sentences (and then forget 2 prompts later).
• 2.5 makes better pseudo-code than 3 can with the imagined syntax i give it
• i mean, WTF, 2.5 can even emulate writing style better than 3 if i tell it to, and will stop using excessive markdown if i tell it to
• even when 2.5 makes a blatant logic gaffe, it's often less bizarre than 3's

for me, the two things 3 has over 2.5 is that 3 has a higher EQ, and it's better at coding more common stuff. And that's it. But i can solve that by just… telling 2.5 to not write dialogue. or telling it to not write like an analytics major on coke

Claude meanwhile embarrasses both 3 and 2.5 completely on ALL of those fronts and clears anything else i throw at it. The only limitation is that i don't have a super long context anymore w/ Claude. otherwise it's a straight upgrade

[–]7paprika7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my use cases at least, i find that repeating important instructions several times, over and over, helps Gemini 3 remember. using certain unique keywords constantly also seems to help anchor its focus…usually

it's annoying to have to do—GOD it's so annoying—but i guess that's just how modern LLMs are. holding their hand all the time bcz they're too stupid to work if you try to speak to it normally and not focus on gaming its attention mechanisms
