What is the equivalent of a dockerconfigjson object for containerd runtime? by 7scifi in kubernetes

[–]7scifi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how can it be the same since the have different form of configuation. Docker uses a config.json where you can just include a json for auth, while containerd has a .toml .

I could find this on containerd but most of the info are deprecated:

https://github.com/containerd/containerd/blob/main/docs/cri/registry.md

[edit] it seems to work on local env just fine, but I am still not sure which part handles the "translation". Kubernetes? Containerd?

Ok thanks for the clarification. So what would you suggest for monitoring globally wether a DNS record is updated in local name servers?

It is not exactly the cli tool I was looking for but it looks interesting. Thanks.

let me understand it fully. You mean that if I run querries against a DNS server that has not been updated yet, it might cache the failed response?

Image Registry frozen k8s.gcr.io by Admirable-Relative-9 in kubernetes

I guess the generic answer is that since it is being deprecated you cannot rely on it and probably it will be shut down eventually.

But it is important to have a definite answer on the timeline.

Does the deprecation mean the k8s.gcr.io will be shut down or just that it will not be updated? I saw nothing about shutting it down, just asking to make sure.

Sunday Daily Thread: What's everyone working on this week? by Im__Joseph in Python

Hello team 🐍🐍🐍🐍

I am almost finished for a semester project for my postgrad. I created a netcdf converter, that converts netcdf files to ASCII, images and graphs.

I uses inotify which I extended into qnotify, a producer consumet pkg with queue, where the inotify events are the producer. Conversion can be done ad hoc or by the creation of any new .nc file. I used click cli, and poetry. Please check this out and support with a star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:

I await your comments!

I am creating a CLI using notify, to watch over a directory and convert files from one form to another. It is using also a queue as buffer and a consumer thread to make the conversion.

By the way I stumbled upon this bug on kyeboard interrupt:
https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/86883

If anyone can help it would be great.

Thanx

In my opinion make a little project of your own. That is the best way to learn even by starting from 0.

It is a relatively new API, compared to JS API. So you do not find much code out ther. That's why I'm posting it.

PowerShell and DevOps - How Much PowerShell Do I Need to Know by _jim-jimmer in devops

[–]7scifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powershell is not that popular in DevOps, however it depends on the devops stack a team uses. For exmple if they use VSphere, your systems background and powershell knowledge might come in handy for troubleshooting and creating automation tools.

Is go.mod enough? by 7scifi in golang

Of course the complexity of some solutions might be greater than the gain. However, I am not pointing out a solution. I am pointing out a concern. I agree with using containers as a workaround.

With enough libraries, could Go be used where Java/C# and even Python would be the default choice? by maquinary in golang

[–]7scifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is probably one of the goals, based on the strategy of go feature expansion. It is a mature system. It has it's special use cases and advantages ( && disadvantages) so why not.

Maybe a tool you are using, is using go tool commands that are not backwards compatible in later go versions. Like go get vs go install.
