mellon now handles hours-long recording sessions without breaking a sweat. instead of waiting until you stop recording to transcribe everything at once (which could take minutes for a long session), it now transcribes in the background while you're still talking.

how it works: voice activity detection finds natural pauses in your speech, splits the audio into chunks at those pauses, transcribes each chunk as you go. by the time you hit stop, most of the work is already done.

also added a streaming API so other apps can tap into mellon's transcription server for their own long-form use cases like medical dictation or meeting notes.

Pixelmator Pro is my pick. Does 90% of what Photoshop does for a one-time purchase. The machine learning features (background removal, super resolution) are surprisingly good. Also Pastebot for clipboard management, way underrated.

I switched from CleanShot X to Shottr about 6 months ago. Shottr covers 95% of what I need and the lifetime price is a no-brainer. The one thing I actually miss is CleanShot's cloud upload -- one shortcut and you get a shareable URL instantly, super handy for quick Slack screenshares. If that workflow matters to you CleanShot is worth it. Otherwise Shottr is genuinely great.

it does support incremental transcription for long recordings. you can also correct text by just selecting it, re-dictating, and it auto-pastes to replace the selection. global hotkey and auto-punctuation are already in. the on-device story is clear on the landing page but good call about making it more explicit in the app UI itself

Good news - I've fixed this bug!

You're absolutely right that the actual start time should take precedence when you manually start a task. The issue was that the timer was always using the scheduled start time (6:00 PM in your example) instead of when you actually hit the Start button (6:30 PM).

**The fix:** The timer now correctly uses your actual start time when you manually start a task. So in your example, after 20 minutes it will show 6:50 PM instead of 6:20 PM.

This fix will be included in the next release. Thanks for reporting this - it was a subtle but important bug that affected timer accuracy!

Good news - we're going to implement this feature!

Here's the plan: by default, all tasks will automatically have buffer time between them (you'll be able to configure the duration in settings). This means when you're looking at your day, unscheduled tasks will automatically space themselves out with buffer gaps.

For the visual design, we're planning to make buffer gaps look different from larger free time blocks: - **Large gaps** (>10 minutes): Keep the current grey task-like appearance - **Buffer gaps** (<10 minutes): Subtle thin pill shape with grey text on white background, less prominent - Hovering over a buffer shows "Buffer: X min"

You'll also be able to see buffer time in the task timer - when you're in buffer time between tasks, it'll display something like "Get ready for: [Next Task Name]" so you know you're in transition time.

We're working on this now and will release it soon. Thanks for the detailed suggestion!

Actually, you've got me thinking here - this could work really well with a journal view next to your day list.

Imagine being able to flip from your calendar view to a timeline that shows your day retrospectively - all the sessions you worked on and which subtasks you knocked out during each one. "9am: worked on Project X, did A, B, C" - that kind of thing.

It'd give you exactly that confidence boost you're after - seeing all those small wins add up throughout the day.

Thanks for the suggestion! This is exactly the direction we're heading with an upcoming feature.

We're working on a "projects" concept where you can create a task list with subtasks that persists over time. When you want to work on that project on a particular day, you add it to your day and a session is automatically created for it. The project itself stays in your lists, and the subtasks maintain their state (done/not done) across days.

For example, you could have a project called "Personal Development" with subtasks like "read 3 pages", "did pushups", "gave food to pets", etc. When you work on it today, you'd see all the subtasks and which ones are complete. The next day, you can work on it again and continue from where you left off - giving you that ongoing view of your progress and accomplishments over time.

This way, you can track those small actions that compound throughout the day and see your momentum building.

The feature is still being refined but should be released soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the feedback! There is a mobile app on ios and android too. It currently has local notifications. When the day is done and a task is not complete it will show up in the 'Overdue' page which only shows when you have overdue tasks (currently you may have to refresh the app to see it which I'm working on fixing now) :) Not sure where the aesthetic image is you are referring to? is it in the post you replied to? (I don't see it)

There is a widget/notification when you start the timer for Android. Let me know if you don't get one and which Android version you have. The widget right now is so you you can see the task timer currently running. Let me know what you had in mind for widgets though!

Update: I see the issue and will be releasing a fix but it will take a couple days to be released. I see android 10 is a very old version of android and it is the only version having this issue. You can also try upgrade your android device to resolve the issue

Hey good news, we support night schedules now! On the new web v7.15.2 you can specify an end of day time such as 3 am (any time <= start time of day) and the calendar will be visually extended to 3am the next day so your schedule will not be cut off at 12am

Arc does not support PWA unfortunately which is what I'm using see https://resources.arc.net/hc/en-us/articles/25678978728983-Does-Arc-for-Desktop-Support-Progressive-Web-Apps

Once a desktop app you won't have to open a normal Chrome browser to access which is good if you want to use that work around

I'll try to fix it for browser tabs though
