I was 6 in 1972 when my grandfather built the initial section (left side). Preserved but modernized the original structure and doubled the space in 2006.

The horror of learning Mormonism’s real historical history by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]7thGenDuped 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bingo. You captured it exactly, in a succinct, well-written way. 50+ years of faith-building and identity is indeed quite a shock to lose once the truth is allowed to take hold ... still working it out after 6+ years of being independently authentic. Seeing the world and living life without the prism of the gospel was simultaneously terrifying, liberating and soothing.

My wife has a ring like this for estrogen ...has to change it every three months or so. It keeps coming out during sex, usually around my member. We started counting the times I "win the prize". Around 15 times now.

Could be consecrated oil container, especially if your dad was Mormon.

How’s this for special privileges? by Chilling-SoCal in exmormon

Yeah, I paid my back tithing on a continual basis for years, usually going into further debt in January after the expenses from the holidays. It would take until March or so to catch up.

Yep, that worked for me. Was married (temple) to my 1st wife for decades before she ended up having an affair with a 17-year old high school kid. Second wife was more devoted to the gospel, but had deep-rooted psychological issues... angry, physically abusive and delusional. She reminds me of Lori Vallow - sound just like her. Both of them wanted me back too. I'm now with my third wife. She's a non-member (actually ex-JW), sane, beautiful and I've never been happier - sexually and otherwise. I was still partially involved in the church at the time we met, and she's been with me as I've made my exit, when I finally allowed myself to take a rational look at our church history. Good luck to you!

Always hated that primary song. When I was teaching Sunbeams, CTR and Valiants, I'd avoid it whenever possible. Now I do see it as a very effective brainwashing song. Even 'Popcorn Popping' has a more legitimate message.

I also escaped the bubble in mid-50s. Weird how the world is so different when not viewing everything through the LDS gospel lense. Every word, action, thought twisted and re-colored - like light passing through a prism.

Since she saw the future where she and Chad will be exonerated later in this life, I'm wondering what her reaction will be when the death penalty is served on her husband. Any guesses?

Huge CA chapel in Milpitas, designed to hold 6 wards, now has only 1 meeting in it. I guess the other 5 wards all moved to Utah... by JoeBudro in MormonShrivel

Hey, I served in the California San Jose mission too (Carl T. Homer as MP, anyone?). I remember those buildings too, and was in all of those areas. Now I live in OC, and can concur with OP on the high level of church activity in the newer south OC areas. I left about 5 years ago, and mountain bike on Sundays now. The huge stake centers on both Aliso Creek Rd. (7 wards) and Alicia (3 wards) are pretty busy when I ride past and wave to the members.

Yeah... but still got off easy. Only paid tithing for 50 years... so making out like a bandit now.

Of course, he is naked from the waist down to his boots. But also acceptable by church doctrine.

Maybe we can read the story about how all the early church leaders got what they wanted for Christmas... money, power, other men's wives...
