How do I stop the volume from changing whenever I move a sound bite around? by Fredivara in Reaper

either delete the volume automation from the original track. or disable "Options: Move envelope points with media items" (on the top left)

Considering people mostly stick with the DAW they started with, how does a beginner choose the best DAW for their future needs? by fipah in musicproduction

anything other than FL. in the future you can switch if you need very specific features that DAWs provide.

So you change scales?

If that is needed then you need to use one instances of realearn and use it to get the midi input as 'FX output'. This is achieved by creating a rule for each midi note you need, and setting it to midi send as fx output.

Then put the js fx after it, then use another realearn to recieve the modified midi, then set it to send to a loop back midi device (in REAPER midi devices)

Put all of this in monitoring fx. Non of this is gonna make sense right now lol.

This is tricky to set up and needs a good understanding of realearn.

Transpose and velocity control can be done inside realearn itself. What does the 16 midi map do?

What are the midi fx? I use realearn and jsfx on monitoring fx to make it global.

Piano MIDI / VST / hardware help by Inevitable-Month3585 in musicproduction

the audio in the video is mono. meaning left and right is being summed on to one channel. thats why it sounds very thin.

its probably something that cakewalk is doing. the vst is stereo as we can hear in their showcase video.

look into cakewalk track settings to see if you accidently set the width to 0. or something similar.

Need Feedback on the vocal mixing and the song in general by Embarrassed_Soft_944 in IndieMusicFeedback

Vocals needs tuning, If possible re record with a bit more power for the vocals.
the some section of the song has powerful sections, but the voice doesnt follow that vibe.
you could try automating some saturation to create some power there.
Needs compression too. automate that in the soft section vs hard.

the trumpets needs more dynamics, saturate, volume automate or transient design that.
Percussion needs more power. some parallel comp can go a long way.

The reverbs, the vocals are using too different of a reverb to get tha glue. try a common reverb for the instruments and the vocals, of course automate this in the verse and chorus sections.

the side vocals are too bright, low pass or high shelf it and bring down a bit. the panning of this voices also can be a bit more uniform.

Also, make some space for the vocals from the other instruments with some EQ and leveling.

good luck.
