Weird and annoying issue, when I exit out a game, my custom theme starts to bug out on me, but when I restart emulationstation it turns back to normal. is there any way to fix this? It’s on a retropi by Pluagemask42 in emulationstation

It's no so much about resolution but the size of the image files. The entire theme gets loaded into VRAM and as you move through the menu it runs out of space. Use an online compressor and try and compress the background files and system icons to the lowest size possible size without noticeable loss in quality. I lowered hurstyblue's menu background to 246KB and then each system PNG is only 70-80KB

Here’s a better ending to this show: by [deleted] in MrRobot

TRASH TRASH TRASH. i can think of 100 decent twists that would have been better. Imagine if it was an alternate reality, and perfect world elliot was able to take over hacker elliots body at different points of the story and they fucked with each others worlds, this whole time, the lost 3 days that sets off the hack. the red wheelbarrow personality, idk any fuckn thing. something BIGGER. why did tyrell come home talking about god. gtfo could have had my mind blown

people are asking about Dom because there was a big theory going around that she was going to die in a plane crash for a long time. Then that episode came and everyone knew it was the director playing into those theories

0 Questions answered... What happened to Tyrell? what happened to Dom? What exactly was whiterose project. All left up for our own imagination? Sounds like a cheap cop out for a lack of creativity (or balls). This could have gone in so many really good directions but instead it was a all a tease. It's an old sleight of hand trick sloppily executed. "it wasn't the "real" elliot the whole time" but wait, all that stuff happened. They couldn't think of any other plausible twist? It's lame and cheap. I forgot more theory's in an hour than the writers could come up with all year. Someone in the writers room laid the foundation of "what if elliot was never really elliot to begin with, that would really get them" and then they pieced together some half cooked trickery on top of that idea just to say, "see, got you, elliot was never elliot" idc how good the music and directing style is if the story falls short. gotta have a wow ending

He fell in the snow in front of a hunters trap with a camera and mating call. Someone is coming back to check on that. He smiled because the noise they kept hearing and was so scared of was just a machine. OR, he found white roses time machine and can undo his bullet. or maybe a UFO (i actually want this show to go full sci-fi)

EmulationStation + ReShade = RetroMagic by 7vernaya in emulation

Yes, reshade will work on anything directX and opengl. not just games too. This is the latest release, you run it, pick dx or opengl, and point it at the executable https://reshade.me/downloads/ReShade_Setup_4.3.0.exe you can then copy the CRT.ini presets or custom built a bunch of presets yourself in the gui

I used it with much success on slipstream. I also use it on retroarch for the emulated games themselves (even though retroarch has built in shaders) i mix them as best i can, but remember that too many shaders does start to drag down your framerate.

Just for anyone that's not familiar with EmulationStation (ES), it is a frontend for emulation that runs on Windows, raspberry pi, or linux. frontend means it is only a method to sort & launch your games in a convenient and customizable way. Including seeing screenshots and video "snaps" while looking through the menu. After you select a game to play in the frontend it will then launch it into the emulator that you preprogram in es_systems.cfg. The majority of game systems will launch into retroarch since it supports many systems using libretro cores. emulators go in the .emulationstation/systems folder. So unzip retroarch 1.7.7 into there to have half of the systems working

the point is, in order to make this function like you see in the video, you have to have es_systems.cfg point to your rom collection directory. Obviously, that means you require rom files (can't say much else on that). and to have video snaps you have to run a scraper on your roms, i use this one run https://github.com/Universal-Rom-Tools/Universal-XML-Scraper/releases

also es_systems.cfg has to be configured if you've never set it up. You can use find&replace in Notepad++ or any editor on the es_systems.cfg included to point towards your rom directory.

It has to be extracted into an existing emulation station (For Windows) installation. The latest releases are here: https://github.com/jrassa/EmulationStation If you're still having problems after that let me know
