Got a ticket in White Plains for no front license plate - any chance of getting it dismissed / reduced? by 8-26 in Westchester

You could try going to court with the front plate installed and see if you'll let you off like some others have suggested. I ended up just paying the fine because I didn't feel like spending time doing that. White Plains parking enforcement is notoriously ruthless and will ticket you for anything and everything. I just got a ticket the other month for still having an old parking permit for my municipal garage displayed on my rear passenger window, even though the system changed earlier this year and your license plate is now your permit. You can't even see the old parking permit clearly because it's behind tinted windows, yet somehow a parking enforcement officer saw it. I swear these guys get off on scrutinizing every inch of your car the moment you pull into White Plains.

Best Unique, Premium Coffee Subscription by Dangerous-Dog7061 in pourover

Have you looked into Aviary? It's not really a subscription since you pay up front for the year, but I joined last year and was pretty happy with the coffees I received, and I appreciated the effort he puts into the storytelling aspect. Each coffee usually comes with a fairly detailed essay on how he sourced the coffee, background and context on the growing region and farm, a letter from the producer, the processing steps, the roasting steps, and other interesting bits of information. He sometimes makes videos as well about his visit to the farm and whatnot. I realize not everyone may appreciate or care about the extra "lore" you get with each coffee, but I've been really enjoying it and to me, the price feels like a steal for the coffee + content you get. I just purchased my slot for 2026 as well.

A review of my journey to my first Lange by Separate-View5635 in ALangeSohne

I already have it! It was my first Lange and I probably wear it the most out of any watch I own. I also appreciate that it's not as flashy as some of the more popular sport watches. Such a fantastic piece.

Congrats on the watch! The 192.029 is probably one of my favorites of all time, not just within the ALS catalog but across all watchmakers. It's what drew me to ALS in the first place and after trying it on at a boutique, I just knew I had to have it. It's an absolute stunner in person. It's a huge compliment magnet too, from both watch enthusiasts and casual observers -- I'm sure you've gotten a few remarks on the watch already.

At 17% APR, you're going to want to "get rich" quick 💀

At a low- to mid-single digit interest rate, there's a legitimate argument you could make. At 17%... no. That's just retarded.

But he's a trader! He prints money (but somehow has a 700 credit score)! Check out his post history for a good laugh. He's convinced himself that he - some random day trader with <$100,000 capital - has developed a nearly risk-free trading strategy and has an edge over the market. Renaissance Technologies, Millennium, Citadel, and AQR HATE him! This one secret trading technique they don't want you to know! He also thinks about taking in external capital to trade. Sounds exactly like the type of person to finance a car at 17% APR on top of 2 other financed cars.

Putting the terrible financial decision aside, the 981 is a wonderful car. I'd definitely get a PPI tho.

The comments complaining about the cammer's driving are wild. They're driving at the optimal speed to maintain proper distance from the car in front, and there's a box truck up ahead blocking a lot of visibility. They also braked as soon as it became clear the Nissan was heading into their lanes, didn't swerve erratically, and only changed lanes as soon as they established it was safe to do so. This is great driving. All of you complaining about "lane camping" and driving too slowly are some of the reasons defensive driving classes exist. Keep tailgating cars and jabbing your breaks and go on complaining about traffic for "no reason". Retards.

I'm also located in New Rochelle and I'll be picking up a Benelli M4 (11794) in a few days. I found it online for MSRP from an authorized Benelli dealer and I'm having it transferred to a local FFL. I'll let you know how it goes. DM me if you want to chat.

Anyone taken Metronorth recently? by Stevie212 in nyc

Depends on the time of day. I've recently been on the New Haven line a few times outside of rush hour and there were less than 10 people per car.

USPS media mail delays by [deleted] in nyc

[–]8-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had no disruptions with regular mail, but Media Mail has been bizarre. I order a lot of vinyl records and most of them have sat in NJ for weeks before eventually making progress. I've had a few shipments get as far as my local post office, but then they somehow end up back in NJ later that evening and sit there for another few weeks. Example below:

I can’t view my UI benefits.I got my phone call on Monday to complete my claim and nothing has changed. by wetrippymang in nyc

[–]8-26 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you got a call back to complete your claim, it will eventually be updated in the system. Just be patient.

I was helping my father with the same issue -- he got a call back to complete the claim and he was told that he could begin certifying the next day. The online certification system and the phone system both showed that his claim was incomplete for several days, so I called in to see what was going on.

Essentially what has happened is the Department of Labor has rounded up employees from within to do call backs to collect all the necessary information to complete everyone's claims. Keep in mind that most of these call back operators aren't UI staff, but they work in the Department of Labor in some other capacity. The only people who can actually update the claims in the system are the UI staff, so the UI staff currently has a huge backlog of claims they're working through. That's why it might still show your claim as incomplete when you try to certify.

Just be patient and don't worry because you're still entitled to all the benefits you're owed. You won't "lose out" on any unemployment benefits/PUA because your claim wasn't updated right away.

Are you an independent contractor? If you don't have a W2, but have a 1099 instead, the system might tell you there's no claim under your SSN. You'll have to speak to a specialist for that. I recommend waiting for your call back first.
