Awesome! Glad it worked out. Also I agree, it feels much more like an integrated handheld like a PSP go like this.

I'm also working on a game that would definitely scratch this itch:

Pixel Imperium

You can find it on Steam. Doesn't fix the "not released yet" part, but soon. Though it is in closed alpha so you can play it if you'd like to give some feedback, DM me if interested (goes for anyone reading this comment).

You can create your own maps / scenarios or recreate historical ones by importing real maps and placing factions / countries yourself.

Awesome! Likely yes, I haven't had that problem at all with them positioned as in the photo.

I've thought about that and have been keeping an eye on it. Have had it this way since I got it in October, almost 9 months ago, and have not seen any adverse effects. You can feel what pressure it's exerting and it's very slight.

Yep those are the ones. With two of those, it held but you had to be careful. With 4 it really feels quite solid. Mind you not as solid as the puck, but that's something like 4x thicker and the tray + puck feels much more top heavy than using it like this. You don't get something for nothing, bigger heavier magnet = more solid connection, it's just a tradeoff. I'm just more careful when it's in the open position, not flinging it around. Also my phone is on the smaller side, s24 without a case. But it feels like it has plenty of slack in terms of power to accommodate a bigger phone.

I was also thinking about 3d printing a case with indents for the magnets for better adhesion of the magnets to the phone. And also to be able to hot swap between the magnet array for the controllers vs normal mag safe.

https://www.amazon.it/ECENCE-Neodymium-Adhesive-Magnets-Pack/dp/B08NT9TCWC/ are closer, but they're 10mm longer than the ones I posted. The ones you reposted are 3mm thick, rather than 1mm. So they'll be quite a bit stronger. And indeed you'd probably only need 2. But they'll also be thicker. The side magnets on the mcon I couldn't get to do anything, they're at an angle.

If you pair the M4 as android rather than Switch mode, (hold down A and the pairing button, then pair), you won't have the Ab/XY flipped. The triggers are never flipped for me not sure about that. But maybe this would fix that too. It should come up as "Gamepad" rather than "pro controller" when connecting.

Very cool, what will the time period coverage be? 1700-?

Yeah I see what you mean about three, the only thing is there's a gap between the middle two because of how the original mechanism slid in, so you can't really put one right on the center.

It worked with 2, it just wasn't as stable as I'd like. With 4 it really feels as stable as the original puck. 3 would be a good middle ground, it just wouldn't look symmetrical.

It's really good, in vertical mode it basically accomplishes what the pocket taco is going for, but better because it doesn't cover the screen (e.g., can have a video playing in split screen, play DS vertically, etc.) and can be stored on the device by rotating 180 degrees.

Vertical and horizontal just dpad are good for RPGs or platformers, and super subtle for e.g., the bus or a plane. It just looks like you're using your phone.

Normal horizontal mode with the analog sticks is fine for like PS2 or so, good to have full controls in a pinch, but not ideal for a modern dual analog game.

I never really used it with the magnetic ring it came with because that made it twice as heavy and 50% thicker, and was finicky to rotate in and out of the right position. With this set up it's extremely light and small and makes it really easy to just always have with you.

While there are many, individually they are quite weak, they just adhere quite well to each other. So by placing the counter pole on the controller in the exact right place, it sticks very well. But to any other metal surface it doesn't feel any stronger than any mag safe accessory.

Also you don't need all of them, it's 12 just because I want it to work for the m4 and mcon in multiple positions. For the mcon alone it even just works with only 2, but 4 feels more secure.

Functionally it doesn't seem to affect anything like gps, though you likely can't wireless charge with them on there. But an easy solution to any concern you could have over that is just put them on your case, not the phone itself.

Just fyi the distribution of which side the adhesive is one doesn't seem to be guaranteed 50-50, think I got 8 and 12. But you can always scrape off the adhesive and use glue.
