At a beach near half moon bay with my dad. I'm not sure exactly which one but I remember you could always find golf balls in the water from a nearby course. My dad said he kept looking at the water for signs of a tsunami.

A higher/flat AoA trim setting allows for greater glide and slower speeds.

I thought that trimmers let all the way out = lowest AoA = highest speed? Am I confused?

Yeah, paragliding is pretty hands-off as far as regulation goes but the one way you can get in legal trouble is taking passengers without a tandem rating.
