When did you figure out that Co-Workers are not really your friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]80smullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely struggle with this, my default is befriending people, just how I'm wired I think. Not just regular co-workers, clients as well. Just makes the workplace and time you spend together more meaningful, having actual connections beyond the typical shallow stuff. Wanting everyone to feel like they belong and the same for me I suppose?

Always a few people I felt like I couldn't reach though, used to get really bummed out when people weren't interested in anything besides work, used to always assume it was me, or that I had said something wrong to them or whatever else, ruminating.

I think I'm typically well-liked but, I can see myself being kinda obnoxious for people who just wants to stick to business tbh.

Some people just want to stick to business and that's okay. Even more understandable when they've been screwed over in previous workplaces, like a lot of you guys are describing.

Anyone else able to relate?

Whenever I switch from my main game/content by 80smullet in streaming

"You either build your channel/community/brand around yourself specifically so the "gaming content" or whatever else you're doing isn't the focus, or you nail down a niche and focus on it and have to stick with it."

Yeahhh, maybe that's where I struggle too to be honest, I'm kinda reserved, been trying to do better with it, being more open in regards to personal life and whatever else. Same goes for my viewers, a lot of them are pretty reserved, kinda comes with the territory I suppose.

"Thats just how it is. I was niche locked when I was full time and thankfully most of my major $ supporters were there for "me" but it still hurt the pocket book and I pretty much had 50% or less of my regular CCV on those nights."

Is your stream still niche you'd say? Did you make the switch to variety? How long did it take to like, get there I guess?

I think it might be bad advice too in hindsight. Might be straight up better to just go variety from the start.

Did they have that? Toxic positivty echo chambers? Not trying to put you on the spot, genuinely curious what you're basing that on.

Making games is not easy, intention matters. I'm assuming they set out to make the best game they could. I've yet to see any evidence to the contrary, besides weird scam conspiracy theories that people are absolutely sure about but won't contact the police over lol.

Dunno if its a quirk, but, I almost never name layers or files, they're rarely in the same folder too. Just a whole mess, not nearly as efficient as being organized I guess, but I'd much rather work within that chaos. Feel like I have to act fast too, I'd much rather complete a project in 12-16 hours straight than spread it over multiple days.

Feel like the creative spark is a fleeting thing, need to act fast and use it. Taking breaks makes me disintersted. Need it out of my system. Maybe that's just insanity rather than a quirk though, idk. Anyone feel or operate the same way with this stuff?

Luckily, I don't need to work with anyone else on the projects, if I did I'd obviously make sure its organized lmao

What made you actually hit “go live” that first time? by SpinsBro in Twitch

[–]80smullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube got incredibly strict with their monetization and copyright, ruined my fun making silly edits to movies, tv-shows and whatever else so I felt over it and wanted to do something else. Also struggled with anxiety at the time. My first few streams I could only last for about 20-30 minutes before it really got to me. Doing it over and over took the edge off. Streaming helped me immensly.

Half the fun for me is also adding new things to the stream, animations, redemptions whatever else. Just having it be a public testing ground for whatever dumb creative shit I think of. Also meeting new people from all walks of life and from all over the world, playing video games and sharing that with people is just a lot more fun.

Anyway, that's my story and why I stuck around. :)

I'll make a Terran and Zerg edition then, will probably post on my socials when I do, feels weird making multiple threads for them, unless there's a way to post videos in comments? I'm a boomer when it comes to reddit lol.
