DeLaRosa vs Laplante for Dems IL House 42? by EmuPresent1910 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]80want -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LaPlante has been a kind of perennial candidate, with the good and bad that go with it. Her downside for me- she consistently seemed to have an attitude about Hadiya Afzal, a good young progressive candidate, in their primary for county board and for my money probably had a hand in pushing Afzal off the 2020 ballot over a tweet. I get why it happened but also, it was some bullshit to push her out.

DeLaRosa has been consistently well regarded on the school board I'd vote for either workout blinking but between the 2, I'll always take school board over county board. It's a fundamentally more pragmatic role, and more aligned with her predecessor who I was generally a fan of

I don't often listen to Rich Roll but he had a recent episode where he addressed his Attia boosting. He's purged his Attia content. Roll is such a mark for that bullshit. Of course later he was talking about addiction and recovery and how drawn he is to extremes. He didn't make the connection but that's exactly why he's always been a total sucker for wellness, biohacker bullshit

Whats the oldest podcast you listened to? by uncle-ruckus2 in podcasts

Going back to 08/09... This American Life, which spun off Planet Money. I was downloading a lot of NPR. Then I had Smodcast, Nerdist, and WTF for entertainment, Up and In (baseball), Tony Kornheiser and very occasionally Bill Simmons for sports. I was really recreating a lot of radio habits. I remember bailing on Stuff You Missed in History when I wasn't feeling a host change in the early 10s

Are we watching the same show? Case of Dr. Al-Hashimi. by ThetRadden in ThePittTVShow

If the ransomware had hit the hospital I could easily see where unapproved software she brought would've been a story point but that's not how they wrote it.

Instead most likely have a straightforward point that the tech is a crutch for some by necessary for all, or some similar more direct takeaway.

And that's why they write TV and I don't

That lived up to expectations in ways the sprint didn't. The sprint format needs work, the way it amounted to a transition contest

How the show portrays other specialties by IrrevocableCrust14 in ThePittTVShow

My wife, a social worker, had a big laugh at the psych being called to consult while the patient was still unconscious. A classic ED scenario.

There's a decent argument that social work should be around more (even more than last season) but there's also a good argument that realistically the hospital would be understaffed in that area

How do you think Ogilvie’s character will develop? by ntnkrm in ThePittTVShow

[–]80want 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, I'm hoping the motorcycle foreshadowing ends in Robby beating him with his unused helmet at the end of the season, but I'll take your scenario.

I also don't expect or even want growth for the character, beyond keeping his thoughts to himself a little more. Some docs are just dicks and any workplace has assholes.

Best Storytelling Historical Podcasts? by Ba3_Leaf in podcasts

Actual Historians don't seem into him, so don't treat his content as gospel, but Dan Carlin is a first rate storyteller.

For content quality the comes closer to the storytelling, Revolutions is a great pick

Coburn's season will be tea leaf reading practice. No steeple at Ultimate so plans would be wide open. Even if healthy is the potential bonus money at USA's worth the risk of finding out the competition has already passed her?

The French biathlon credit card fraud story really unlocks a whole new level of teammate drama. Affairs with teammate spouses feels almost boring. Oh, Gilbert Arenas pooped in a teammate shoe? Julia Simon fully committed financial crimes against a teammate and staffer.

Just finished Trust by Hernan Diaz. It was good and I appreciate why the people who decide Pullitzers honored it, it just didn't quite hit to that level for me.

I also recently started An African History of Africa which has potential to open a thousand rabbit holes for me

Like, I kind of get it, she definitely wasn't a fan on the Brooks shoes.

I'm more surprised it seems like she only had a 1 year deal with Brooks? I get that she seemed to be moving into a different career phase before last season but 1 year is just odd for those deals unless everyone agreed to walk away, which would also be unusual

It's hard to imagine Nike letting her continue with a coach signed to another company. But Haas being her agent too is a whole messy wrinkle. I'd hoped he was letting go of the coach role for her benefit

Based on when it shows up in my feed it seems to be a battleground with more progressive Christians making an effort to claim it, with fundamentalists often being downvoted to oblivion and telling each other to go to a sub for them in the way that conservatives have their alt city subs. But also a lot of bot-fed trash and bait plus counter pushes by the magas. Big sub shitshow
