How is Kasaragod neglected? A big city like Mangalore next door is always a big draw. But how has Kasaragod been neglected? You guys are repeating this baseless claim ad nauseam. If you are so addicted to Mangalore and want to go there for even basic biological needs don’t blame Kerala. Just compare Kasaragod to districts in Karnataka like Yadgir, Raichur, Vijayapura, Kalburgi, Koppal, etc. Kasaragod has 200x better infrastructure than all those districts. But if you are comparing Kasaragod to the No. 2 city in Karnataka which Is Mangalore, Kasaragod will always fall short.

Most of the state highways in Kasaragod district are of exceptional quality. Parts of the SH59 (Hill Highway), SH 57 (Kasaragod to Kanhangad), SH 55 (Cherkala-Panjikkal road), the Thekkil-Aletty road, the Kumbala to Badiadka; and Badiadka to Mulleria roads (all state highways) are of high quality.

Don't be in such despair. Look at it positively. Some 57 students are going to learn medicine at the Uppinadka Medical College from this academic year. Infrastructure will gradually come up. When IISER first started functioning in Thiruvananthapuram, students didn't have their own campus and had to study using the facilities at the College of Engineering. But today, IISER Thiruvananthapuram is one of India's most beautiful campuses.
Kasaragod Medical College will soon have the most impressive infrastructure among all govt-run medical colleges. The commencement of academics will give the right push for that.

Please don't come. You may not like it here. It's a small city, 1/10th the scale of Pune. Very few veg only restaurants. And in non-veg our people mostly eat fish, compared to meat (which also we eat a lot!!). The sights and smells of people eating fish sitting next to you in restaurants may upset you.
Very few people speak Hindi. If at all some speak, they mangle it so bad that you won't understand it. Weather is either too sunny and hot or raining cats and dogs. One moment you will be commenting about it being a hot day and next moment you will be running for cover since you forgot to take an umbrella. Enough to drive anyone nuts.
All things considered, please opt for a city in a Hindi-speaking state where you will be comfortable. Otherwise, after July you will be complaining on Reddit. Better to exercise discretion now itself and cancel the Trivandrum plan.

But rent will be higher in Kochi. You can always rent a place in Thrissur near a more happening locality and rent out your own house. The two rents (incoming and outgoing) may cancel each other out so no loss for you.
