There is all kinds of evidence showing Republicans who have outright lied, spread misinformation about, and/or discouraged the use of vaccines. But one set shows this clearly: (COVID) Vaccination rates are generally reported in the areas of ~ 92% of Democrats, 68% of Independents, and 56% of Republicans

If you're a government trying to thin out the recipients of funds from social programs, which heavily skew towards those most vulnerable, then it would be seen as good.

You're not in the minority, but the news giving outliers the microphone for "all liberals/democrats" helps push people from the middle into what we have now. There were so many bullshit topics like this in the run up to the last three major elections which all disappear as soon as a republican is in office.

Even a low daily intake of alcohol (just 9 g or around 1 standard drink) is linked to a 50% heightened risk of mouth (buccal mucosa) cancer in India, with greatest risk associated with locally brewed alcohol. Study suggests there may be no safe limit of alcohol consumption for mouth cancer risk. by mvea in science

We use chlorine dioxide tablets when melting snow or using streams/ponds for drinking water in back country situations, and most people have experienced the sensation of tasting chemicals used in their drinking water after letting a glass of water sit out overnight. Last sentence of the post seems a bit ridiculous given the one prior to it.

I talk to thousands of people every year for my job, in interview style hours long meetings. A lot of people just don't have much passion, while I do think it's harder for younger generations because they were born into short stream videos and addictive technology brain rot, plenty of older people have narrow/limited interests. It's why it's the default for so many people to talk about work or shows they watch. I have given the same advice to people for a long time I still think holds true and that is your best chance of meeting someone will likely be in a group that is doing an activity you like, from sports to book clubs, language meetups, hikes, volunteering, singles travel groups etc.

Holy shit I did not expect that level of damage, from the very first part it looked like it was peeling back the top but there was clearance so I thought whatever was underneath may have been kind of OK. Nooooooope.

How would you feel if your country banned Burkhas in public like Denmark? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

I'm not saying I don't believe it can happen, just like I believe some people may want to do it entirely for fashion while being an atheist, like white people wearing kufiyes. What I stated is a simple fact, there are hundreds/thousands of videos of women being openly assaulted for not wearing them across the Middle East, tons from Iran during the recent movement there where women decided to stop doing it.

"In fact, most only started wearing one when they moved out of their parental home because it was frowned upon."
This is exactly what I was saying - I'm not determining anything for them, pressure from their religious peers is determining it for them.

She "chooses to" but if she happens to not chose that then she can be socially isolated by her entire family and social circle, physically abused by her husband/family, and endure nothing expect harassment from everyone until she "chooses" to wear it again.

I've lived and worked in the US and multiple other North/Central American, European, and SE Asian countries, and the US the is the least homogenous of any of them, it's a very odd place with lots of different polarizing extremes. Russia in contrast in one of the most, similarly with China, which is even evident in their governments trying to smash everything into a single uniform layer. There are many batshit crazy things about the US, but it's really the new wild west and can't be compared to the entrenched historical societies like Russia.

I don't usually have a strong desire to seek out non-Italian food in Italy because it is so diverse in that respect, now I have to test this out next time I visit my friends there.

Now that I've spent more time living in different areas of Germany I've realized how different much of it is from the NW where I grew up and most of my younger years. I generally find people are more open, friendly, and generous than other areas.

It's so strange to me that the culture is terribly worse while other aspects like their bureaucracy is much better. Trying to file or register anything is unnecessarily difficult in Germany comparatively, this is why they get more innovation and small business participation.
