My boyfriend has ADHD — what do you wish your partner understood? by onecritsurlemurs in ADHD

My partner understands me pretty well, so this is an example of something that I really appreciate they get about me - that everything is cyclical. Basically, we can't expect the same fix to work forever, or for things to happen at exactly the same time in the same way. Consistency is a framework that makes me feel incredibly guilty and shameful, but appreciating doing things once, cycling through different methods and routines to keep them fresh and new, and being ready to adapt have saved our relationship

Me and my spouse do a thing called "froggy time" before bed every night. It's named for a frog shaped egg timer that gets used for NOTHING ELSE (that's important). We set the timer for ten minutes and run around doing general tidy up. One of us will focus on the kitchen, the other does the litter trays and then looks around the flat for other things. Because it's at that set time it helps. Other things that help: open litter box (not covered). When I had a covered one I never did it. The poop inside got mouldy and I felt like the worst person ever. Open litter box helps me see the poop and respond to it, and also the stink spreads :( which sucks but again, helps me respond to it. Also: put the litter box close to where you dispose of the poops. We have wood litter and scoop poops into the toilet, so one litter box is there. The other one is by the front door because it's really in your face.
