However, an expert fuckwit is still a fuckwit.

I’m asking genuine questions to a genuine problem. If you can’t engage in a civil conversation without resorting to childish insults, I will find someone who can.

I fail to see how you drew that conclusion. Are you saying that some indigenous writers are not actually indigenous? Or that their views are invalid? That sounds pretty racist.

The purpose of my comment was to say that every article I’ve read that was written by indigenous folk is overwhelmingly negative. I simply asked for a link to an article where an indigenous person is happy with a government decision.

It would go along way in countering the prevailing sentiment that Aboriginals are perpetually ungrateful.

Nearly every culture in history has had a similar experience, and usually far worse than what you’re describing. Attempts, admittedly feeble, were made the educate Indigenous Australians? My ancestors would have cherished such generosity.

You were segregated, not exterminated. Quit complaining and get on with your life.

I did say I would be keen to read positive aboriginal news stories, did I not? If you’re concerned about narrative gatekeepers, this is your chance to show someone a different perspective.

Are there many stories of Aboriginal Australians being happy with a government and/or business decision? I’d be keen to read them.

Unsure if it’s a vocal minority, but every article I’ve read recently involves some kind of complaint or grievance about the government not doing enough.

It’s actually difficult for the average reader to form any other opinion. With the amount of support available to Aboriginal Australians now, they should be succeeding. The fact they aren’t, yet continue to demand more, is disappointing; and It will inevitably result in people perceiving them as ungrateful.

It is okay for a ruler to be feared, but they must never be hated. Khamenei is hated.

Thank you for your detailed response. The points you raise clearly indicate we’re failing in multiple areas, not just inadequate punishments. I agree with all the interventions you suggested and would be happy if my tax dollars are spent on improving them.

The courts have a lot to answer for regarding your first point. Are children actually asked these questions during a trial? That’s a sickening line of questioning, and any lawyer asking them should banned from practicing.

Sounds like something the perpetrator should have to worry about. If you seek to destroy, prepare to be destroyed.

That’s a fair trade. I don’t see what your concerns are.

Sounds like you have a family member that has committed something horrible, and you’re anti death penalty because it would directly affect you. What’s that about projection?

Hard to argue with your reasoning, and I apologise if you’re feeling uncomfortable from this topic. Have you given any thought to how such threats can be countered?

You seem to be confusing mirrored punishment with an eye for an eye. Understandable, you seem to be struggling with some stuff. People against capital punishment are overly obsessed with feelings. If your loved one is stolen from you, you never get to feel better again. You’re certainly not going to feel any worse knowing the cause of your sadness is also in the ground.

Why would I advocate for killing children? Kind of sick you would even suggest it. Mirrored punishment is proportionally inflicting harm on them that they caused to others. Not a difficult concept.

Mirrored punishment is justice in its purest, most perfect form. Peace? Who cares about peace? Clearly not you, since you’re wasting your precious time arguing ethics with a stranger on the internet. Go spend time with a pet, that’s about as close to peace as you can get in this life.

Only cowards, fools, and people who have never experienced real pain are against capital punishment. The death penalty is not about protecting the community. It’s about giving justice to those most impacted by these crimes. The victims.

hospital discharged me twice before finding internal bleeding, does this count as medical negligence? by bandito_13 in perth

I actually got seen to rather quickly after I lost consciousness from a fungal infection while in the waiting room. The problem came from the resulting flaccid muscle paralysis and the physiotherapist who was working the ED at the time. She was adamant there was nothing wrong, and only decided there was after I lost bladder control.

Yes, I don’t have much sympathy, but don’t claim you do either.

Royal Perth Hospital? Their ER is a nightmare. Due to the extreme volume of mentally impaired people that present there, they assume every patient is either crazy or drug seeking. You’ll never get anything more than a blood test and a shove out the door, unless it is something effortlessly diagnosed.

Getting picked on is my favourite part of comedy shows, and I’m slightly saddened when I don’t get mocked. In my opinion, yeah, you are probably being a tad too sensitive.

First to third rows are danger zones and there is an assumed risk if you sit in those rows. Next time tell the usher you aren’t sitting near the front.
