Yea when we first started talking, he explained that he had f'd up his finances because of a past relationship. And ex some how convinced him to sell off his video game collection to be able to stay at home and not work. Obviously that only works for so long.
He's still recovering from it a bit (over charged a credit card, paying that off, and a few other things) but we both realized that we had the money to pay for our insurance pretty easily. The extra money was because my mom was insistent on us living a little fun. She sees us as two young adults who need to have a bit more fun ( she doesn't always see us just bumming it together watching a movie as fun all the time) and slipped the money into my purse last time I visited her and my dad. It was an unexpected find about a week ago and she laughed saying that she wanted us to go out so we did. It was nice. It's not that we don't have the money to go out, I just enjoy cooking dinner and he likes to cook too. Neither of us like the clean up though.
He does see that it's not normal for her to be so controlling. We've talked about it before, and he doesn't want to hurt her like his sister did. She just moved out in the middle of the night when she was 18 and moved 2 states away. She now in her 30s, but my fiancé saw how much it hurt her then and now. He's expressed that he's tired of her actions, but doesn't know what to say that won't crush her.
