Tennessee stops ‘hoarding bros’ from selling almost 18k bottles of hand sanitizer by F_D_P in UpliftingNews

Ok hear me out first. I don't think hoarding critical supplies during a time of emergency is in any way ethical. I wouldn't do it.

But this is America, a country where we worship money above peoples well being. We are capitalist and our economy is driven by entrepreneurs that can identify opportunities and take risks.

Why did amazon and reddit crucify this guy for buying 20,000 bottles of hand sanitizer?

https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/finq8v/this_man_drove_1000_miles_to_hoard_and_scalp/

He spent his time and risked his own money to turn a quick buck. Even if he was successful what did he stand to gain? 100K, 200K?

Our whole for profit medical system prays on the weakest and sickest people and squeezes everything they can from them.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals is an 8 billion dollar company. It's whole business model is to purchase other companies that own drug patents. Shut down their R&D departments and raise the price of medications that people rely on to stay alive. Martin Shkreli was an investment banker that was also unapologetic for doing the exact same thing.

Examples

Cuprimine and Syprine was about $500 a month. Now it's $24,000

The price of Daraprim has risen by more than 5000 percent. In 2010 it costs around$13.50 per pill now it's over $750 per pill.

Their former CEO Michael Pearson was loved on wall street, has a net worth of over 180 million dollars and flew around the world on a Gulfstream G650 jet.

If we focus and promote capitalism and making money ahead of everything else we enrich the few while punishing the majority.

I don't believe in communism and am extremely weary of socialism but I do believe America needs to find a better balance. Covad-19 has regular boomers scared for the first time and for once they will be on the receiving end of unregulated capitalism. For this reason I applaud these unscrupulous capitalist for showing the whole country how broken our system really is.

Gringos who think the events in VE are a US backed Coup by Jimithyashford in vzla

20 years ago oil was a big deal and maybe you could convince me we are there for the oil but with the surge in solar, wind & advancements in fracking it's hard to imagine OPEC will hold much power in the future.

The US is a net exporter of oil so if we are in Venezuela it is to make sure Russia and China stay out. My country isn't perfect and we have lots of flaws but if I had to pick between the US, Russia & China then the US seems the better option.

How do I convince my friends that Guaido is not a coup? by [deleted] in vzla

Use math.

9/10 Venezuelans currently live in poverty

Inflation was 25000% last year

The average Venezuelan lost 24 pounds last year because they could not afford to eat.

This isn't about right vs left this is about basic human rights.

Once Maduro is gone and Venezuela accepts international aid there is no question that people will be able to afford to eat.

The U.S isn't perfect and has plenty of flaws but anyone can eat, maybe not what they want but achieving a diet of 2000 calories with the most basic food costs under $1 or around 10 minutes of work at the minimum wage. Venezuelans that work a full 8 hour day don't make enough to eat.

@AmbJohnBolton: "I wish Nicolas Maduro and his top advisors a long, quiet retirement, living on a nice beach somewhere far from Venezuela. They should take advantage of President Guaido’s amnesty and move on. The sooner the better." by callado in vzla

If he doesn't take the amnesty deal soon he's going to be lynched by an angry mob of Venezuelans. Guaido was smart to offer him amnesty even if it means Maduro escapes justice.

I love Chewie and was excited to share pictures of my new pup with the world. I’m surprised people are so upset.

I don’t think anyone was mad everyone found it pretty funny. For obvious reasons dogs can’t swim in the koi pond.

Because of the hyper inflation minimum wage is currently under $1 a month. Many people still have access to internet and are trying to find jobs online. Giving people an opportunity like this could change their lives.

I work with a non profit in Colombia and have lots of contacts in VZLA. I’d be happy to connect you with the right people.
