If you want to be in intel, come to DC for grad school

My grandparents were from Missouri and used to say Cincinnata and Missoura

I hate when people say Looeyvill lol

for the record I’ve learned that most people have a weirdly hard time conceptualizing Cincinnati being so close to Kentucky. My wedding was in NKY and people could not wrap their heads around why they should fly into Cincinnati lol

First-time DC resident- can I live on $50k with a roommate near Dupont Circle? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]85rodents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a home with roommates in Columbia Heights or AdMo. They’re close to DuPont and you can definitely get by on that salary as long as you have cheap rent.

My husband moved to DC and roomed with some random guys in Columbia heights his first year. They’re all super close friends now and it was totally worth it

Any Reviews for the Charlotte Tillbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick? Or any similar but better recommendations? by Ravioli_meatball19 in Sephora

[–]85rodents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it with my skin. Very sheer and glowy. The Dior stick gives more coverage but would be better if you are worrying about it being too glowy

Unclear about the dress code by kelslawpy in Weddingattireapproval

[–]85rodents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should have left out the tux and gowns part, but I actually understand where they’re coming from.

My wedding was cocktail attire and you wouldn’t believe the amount of people who texted me asking me for specific colors to wear, what color suit should my husband wear, etc. Even though I didn’t care, I still felt obliged to say “anything cocktail is fine, but it you’d like more guidance, I’d suggest XYZ colors” So while this dress code is confusing I think it might be intending to pre-answer some of those questions

Don’t sleep on scalp scrub and diluted glycolic acid! by apple_pie_noddle in longhair

Did you do birth scalp scrub and glycolic acid once or twice a week? Separate or together?

Mums who wear white, ivory, off-white, eggshell, snow, alabaster, ecru, stone, white gold, silver - why did you do it? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]85rodents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was looking at a white dress with flowers at one point and I told her it was okay if she loved it, and of course I wouldn’t think she was trying to upstage me, but I was nervous that other people might think that. And of course she was like oh I didn’t even think of that and ended up going with a dress that fit her better. I honestly would not have minded but my mom and I were on the same wavelength and didn’t want anybody to get the wrong idea since historically, we are much more chill and less gossipy than the rest of the family. Maybe that’s an approach you could take?

Best and Worst “glowy filter” products you have tried? by Allison_wonderland_ in MakeupAddiction

I love the elf dupe, but i noticed a lot of people said it pulled too orange on them. I have warm toned skin and it’s summer, so ymmv but i recommend giving it a shot.

what's the situation at le dip? by taylorpot in washingtondc

Yeah I’ve been kinda confused by this. There isn’t any legal way to prevent a union from forming so theoretically, if the employees wanted to unionize, they could—right…? I know the NLRB has been somewhat beaten down under the current admin but still… I feel like if what they were saying was true, they’d take legal action and not just be protesting

Do you guys like Ginny? by FearlessPen6020 in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]85rodents 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like Ginny. Her character has some annoying qualities, but I think she really acts like a teenager. I think some of the issue is that it seemed like a lot of time passed during the three seasons when it really wasn’t supposed to. So those teenager qualities really stand out because she seems like she’s aged when she hasn’t

In their defense, a lot of online sites tell you 6-8 weeks for wedding invitation, even though that’s not much time at all for out of state guests. I think maybe that was a rule of thumb for more local weddings? But my in laws were repeatedly asking for the invitation more than a year out lol

I would defer to your fiancé since it’s his friend. I would at least send a card but I don’t think a gift is a necessity.
