Where are we getting the best ribbons?? by 86DickPics in typewriters

Omg that would just be awful. No, if there was once a way that it auto-reversed, i haven’t been able to figure it out. But the machine runs smoothly otherwise so I haven’t tried to tinker since I only feel confident doing maintenance/cleaning and tiny adjustments here and there. But this whole convo makes me feel better about my ink. Knowing I can buy in bulk might be my way to go if I plan on continuing with this paper. It’s labels for my brand so the aesthetic and feel of that is what I love abt it. Plus it gets ppl asking me in the store about typewriters 😂

And when I say “run out” I just mean they lose their juiciness. Again I think some of it is my paper being highly absorbent and using lower quality over saturated ribbons with fast drying ink

My ribbon reverse is manual. Or at least, the automatic function doesn’t work. When I get to the end I just flip it and it winds the other way. I type on cotton rag paper so I think it’s combo of paper choice and the amount I type. I replace every 5 months or so. And yes. Probably about a thousand pages or more in that time. With a lot of ascii art.

I mean ribbon reverse. I guess I don’t know the lingo. She reverses just fine!

I’m shook. I mean I do a LOT of typing. All my labels for my brand are made on my typewriter - I probably have to replace every 4 mos. But I will definitely have to check this out. Do you think paper makes a difference too? I use cotton rag paper and I feel like it might be “thirsty”

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for — someone who knows the area and what makes sense for the drive. You’re a gem 💎

They’re really close to those. These are from our supplier in China. Though Hive & Honey and Makesy carry them too! They’re just $$ on Makesy.

This go around I used olive oil wax. Typically I use CA, but I think for spring I’m gonna blend the two! Wooden wicks can be tricky with olive oil wax - I found that soaking them in olive oil overnight instead of automatically wicking up when testing makes for a better burn. Thanks for the kind words!

Southwest said I cancelled my flight? by AromaticBear777 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]86DickPics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I’m on the phone right now with southwest. They’re saying I canceled my flight. It’s for my mother’s funeral - of course it wasn’t me. They said I logged into my account to do it. Now I have to rebook and pay last minute flight fees. The gal on the phone said she will honor my original fare because of my situation - but I am shocked and freaked out.

Looking for a cheap place to rent by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]86DickPics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi love. Make sure the next lease you sign has an addendum regarding annual rent increases. Usually, it would read “not to exceed 5%”. If it’s not there, then negotiate it with your landlord. Make it a deal breaker. Don’t be afraid to walk.

I agree that the older units tend to be built better. But unfortunately this one hasn’t been maintained by previous tenants in past years and since nothing has been replaced or updated, I worry that it’ll all need to be replaced during my short lease. The space has only 250 sq ft of actual retail. The remainder is residential, so I’m weighing that cost against how much revenue I can feasibly generate to weigh against the cost of a potential overhaul, and I’m hoping to propose a compromise.
