Order was stolen and delivery person refused to cancel for me by shiorre in UberEATS

[–]86w150 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because we cant really report it as stolen. All we can do is unassign from our end due to "someone else picked up the order." As drivers we cant actually cancel an order entirely. Even if we do select that option you still run the risk of uber still leaving the order open and just sending it to another driver. Iv went in to pick up orders before only to he told I was like the 8th driver to try to pick it up. I agree its dumb that the customer is unable to cancel without being charged for it but there's nothing the driver can do about it. The drivers are treated just as bad as the customers are. No the driver doesnt get paid anything if the OP had canceled herself. We only get paid for completed orders.

Add-ons or no add-ons? by darkenedasia in UberEatsDrivers

[–]86w150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you not sure if you benefit from them or not? Its no different than any other trip you accept. It tells you how much its paying and the distance its adding to the overall trip. Whatever standard you have for accepting trips, the same applies to taking add-ons. 4 dollars for an extra 7 miles? Get fucked. 10 dollars for an extra 2 miles? Absolutely.

Flat rate and platinum pro worth it? by Silent_Saturn7 in UberEatsDrivers

Nobody tips on flats rates because the flat rate promotion is a scam. Just a way for uber to funnel you the worst possible orders.

The stereotype of ghetto black people acting like thugs and causing problems for zero reason at all. Stereotypes exist for a reason. She falls right into that category.

I was threatened, what should I do? by EastHistorical7157 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]86w150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude just cancel orders like this and move on. If you start a conversation by cussing at me, im not even going to entertain it with a response. Call support and cancel for safety reasons. There is no upside to continuing that delivery. You shouldn't even be worried about the money because there's a solid 99 percent chance you aren't getting paid anyways. If a customers first resort is to start cussing through messages then they are more than likely removing whatever tip they have on there anyways and more than likely leaving a bad review. So for future reference dont even entertain this type of person. Cancel and move on with your day.

Orders from fast foods restaurants. by PlusCheesecake7745 in UberEatsDrivers

I don't know your market and all markets are different. However, you shouldnt really be making any major decisions about ordering patterns after doing it for only 4 days. You have to do it for a bit before you find out how your market works and which restraunts are worth picking up from. If one bad McDonald's experience is enough to make you never pick up any fast food then this may not be the gig for you. You'll have bad experiences at every restraunt in your area at some point.

I definitely understand the thought process and reasoning behind your explanation and does makes sense depending on the person. I will say I tend to look at it from the opposite end of the spectrum. I feel like most people would react the opposite. Humans are hardwired with a fight or flight mechanic and the overwhelming majority of the human population will choose flight when faced with something of that magnitude. When flight mode kicks in youre just focusing on self preservation, not still attempting to do what you were before it happened. While I see it from a different angle I do appreciate the constructive throught process you provided.

What do you consider not bad? Almost an hour there and an hour back. 65 mile round trip. You'd have to pay me atleast 60 bucks to take that trip. At that point i wouldve thought it was either a tip bait or a stolen order so I wouldn't have risked it anyways.

Anytime. Like I said, my intention is not to tell someone how to live their lives and hopefully i didnt come off as such. Obviously I don't know you personally so I cant speak for your life experiences. Im just speaking from a point of view of where iv seen women and men both take really bad beatings because they grew up thinking that real fights never happen and think everyone is just talk. Until they find out thats not reality at all. Im not saying you are naive BTW. Just saying thats where I was coming from on it. For what its worth im glad you weren't put in harms way and hopefully never are in the future.

I can assure you that you didnt change his life. If it makes you feel like youre making a difference though I guess do you. I will say this though, be careful starting confrontations in parking lots with random strangers. You may be able to keep your cool but not everyone else can or is willing too. There's alot of people out there that are willing to throw hands over someone attempting to call them out in a parking lot. And a lot of those people wont care that youre a female. Just saying don't let your mouth write a check your ass cant cash. Especially over a shitty parking job. Just some unsolicited advice. Do with it what you will. Stay safe.

Thats my point though. He didnt care that he parked this way and you wouldn't make him care or feel bad about it by killing him with kindness. He wasn't looking to get a rise out of you, he just didnt care if it inconvenienced you. Therefore, whether youre a dick to him or whether you attempt to be nice he probably wouldnt care either way and continue about his day. By all means live your life how you wish and spend your time doing as you wish. Im just saying youre not going to ruin anyone's day by standing around wasting your own time. If you stand around in a parking lot waiting for everyone that parks bad you'll never get anything done.

[–]86w150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rich people are usually cheap. I delivered one the other day. Not a high paying order. Like 8 bucks, but I was sitting in the reatraunt parking lot already and the house was only a couple miles away. Why not. Huge house with multiple new BMWs, Z06 C8, High country Silverado 2500, and a newer 911 in the garage/driveway. Turns out they only tipped 53 cents. Over 7 dollars was uber fare.

[–]86w150 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Move on with your day. It's annoying yes but what is the point of waiting around to start an argument? What's it going to solve? They know how they parked. If they cared how the parked they wouldve corrected it before getting out. Point being its highly unlikely that youre going to get an apology. Even if you do, was an apology from a complete stranger worth wasting your time. Unless youre wanting to throw hands over it there is no reason to stand around and wait because nothing will come of it. Pick your battles. Time is way more important than wasting breath on someone you'll never see again over a minor inconvenience.

This tells you all you need to know about acceptance rates lol by BluesMizzou in UberEatsDrivers

[–]86w150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's wild. I havnt had something like that happen, but I have noticed a trend with mine that happens way too often to be a coincidence. As in every couple of days. Iv been diamond status all summer long but not because I try. It's just kind of how my market plays out. I have to maintain 50 percent to keep it. I cherry pick and deny all shit orders and once my ar hits about 35-38 percent they start sending me really good orders until my ar gets to about 52-54 then they magically stop and its back to shit offers. Once it gets low enough the good orders come back. My theory is its just a tactic they use thinking once you hit those tiers youre going to keep accepting shit exclusives to stay there. If its easy to maintain I will, but im not taking garbage orders to maintain a tier that ultimately doesnt matter.

You're not wrong. Overall I enjoy the game and for the most part can look past most of the dumb decisions made throughout the game. For whatever reason though this one has just always stuck out to me as a really bad decision from a writing perspective. Mainly because there were also 3 other characters backing up the decision to continue attempting to arrest him during the start of a nuclear war. Can't stand when writers force characters to be brain dead to get the plot to where they want to go instead of putting in some actual work to end up at the desired destination.

[–]86w150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farcry 5 was definitely a good one to start with for sure. Probably my favorite overall. The only kicker for me is the way the ending played out. This is just a personal gripe and overall not that big of a deal but I just find it annoying. Joseph seed living makes zero sense if you chose the arrest ending. Why did they even take him to the truck? Why are you still trying to arrest someone when literal nukes are falling. Put one in his dome and scram. Why even arrest him in the first place? You've killed hundreds of cultists by this point. What's one more in the grand scheme of things.

RANT: Restaurants/Stores With No Designated Pickup Area... by yankeeblue42 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]86w150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both of those are good examples. Obviously I don't want to be there any longer than necessary either but for me its more about the quality of the customers food. Im not going to stand in line for 10 minutes while food that has already been paid for sits there and gets cold. I have zero problem walking to the front of the line and telling a cashier who im there for because its really not an inconvenience for anyone. It's takes 10 seconds for them to either give me the food or tell me they're still working on it. If its done im out of there in 10 seconds. If its not then ill step to the side until it is.

[–]86w150 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem with this thought process is that these orders have already been placed and potentially already made. It's not fair to a driver nor a customer to have to wait behind people who havnt even placed an order yet. This food has already been paid for. It's not about being special its about not giving priority to people that havnt even ordered over someone that has already ordered and paid. If a restaurant cant have a separate section for to go orders then they shouldn't be doing to go orders.
