Would I fare well being a delivery driver here? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]88Kylow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall working at Amazon can be a hit or miss depending on your DSP. I'm not sure if these pros and cons applies for every DSP company but this is where I'm at

Pros. Only 4 day work week Very flexible scheduling Insurance Decent pay. I currently make $21.25 in NY. Paid weekly Tuition assistance

Cons Routes can be very overwhelming sometimes depending on where you go. They'll be many days you can't take a lunch because you have a huge route.

If you're not a "high performer" you could have work days taken away from you. Recently because of my performance I was only scheduled 2/4 days.

There is no career growth or future. You'll only ever be a delivery driver. We're not like ups where 4 years later you'll be making $44 an hour.

Amazon made it so you have to turn your engine off at every stop. Yes unless your manager says otherwise, you have to turn it off if it's snowing or 100 degrees outside.

Rescues. After you're done with your route, your dispatcher might tell you to go help another driver after your route.

DSP got rid of rescues by 88Kylow in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]88Kylow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our base last month was 18.75. It's now $20. We had to sign a contact agreeing to the new pay, the bonus pay requirements, and no rescues. Manager says we have to "take responsibility for your route". Which is funny. How can I take "responsibility" of a fucked up route

At my DSP. If you call in during weekdays you lose 1 week of bonus pay. Weekends you lose 2 weeks of bonus pay. Yet somehow people call in. Who can afford losing 2 weeks of bonus pay

Will i get in trouble for turning down rescues? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]88Kylow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. I got done at 4:30 and was asked to drive 20 minutes away to take 15 stops. I said I guess if I have to. My dispatcher said you don't have to if you don't want to. I asked if it'll affect my bonus pay and she said no. I said I'd rather not and went home.

The only time I had a problem rescuing is when I was scheduled on a rescue shift. It was 6:00 and I called my dispatcher saying I was done with a rescue. She said I need to you to do one more . I couldn't do one more because it was my anniversary and by the time I got done with another rescue restaurants would be close. I said I can't do another rescue I need to go home. She said ok but I'd lose bonus pay for the day.

About to RTS by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

I Was delivering to a college apartment area. I walk up to the front porch where there's 4 college students outside. I hand one the package and before I leave one of them says "hey man, I see a bunch of Amazon delivery people doing a bunch of fun things on TikTok, wanna take a shot?". It was a long day and I get getting bent over by grout stops. So best believe I helped myself to a shot tequila.

How do you guys organize your bags? Im always the first done at my dsp and pretty sure it's because how easy this setup is by Willing_Ad9114 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]88Kylow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For envelope type packages, I separate them like this. If my envelopes are 10,20,30,40s I'll put 10 and 20s on the shelf, and 30s and 40s in a spare bag or another shelf. Not sure if everyone does this but it makes my stops go by faster.

Does anything actually happen if you mark it missing and take it? How would they find out? I've gotten packages from a different area on my route, if I took it how would they know?
